"In most places, it's was grunge, then numetal, but NOT in the UK! We had britrock! The freaks became popstars and for a time, we took on the world! Let me do you a copy of A's 2nd lp and you'll see what I mean when you hear old folks, Zoe Ball played it loads in 99!!"

Forget the new Gallagher / Squire single and reacquaint yourself with one of the best singles from the tail-end of Britpop. Absolutely wonderful stuff. ❤️
On this day in 1998,
@Bernard_Butler
released the single Stay.
Taken from his debut solo studio album, People Move On, it reached number 12 in the UK singles charts!
What a song!
"..... like
@britpoprevival

I don't use Spotify.

in 2000, the Manics released the furious, limited edition single ‘The Masses Against The Classes’.
Deleted on the day of release, the track nonetheless became the first UK
#1
of the new millennium, selling 76,000 copies and knocking Westlife off the top spot.
Whoops! We missed a bunch of albums in 2023, so, as
@trvecvltgaz
returns, we look at 12 releases from last year that unfortunately slipped through the net.
Lush jazz, stadium sized stoner rock, nerd rap nirvana, brutal prog metal & much more

The album that bought them back from the brink and on the road to being one of the biggest bands in the country. Absolutely superb!
Last night's rock show nearly killed me.
Got recognised as a podcaster (lol), got asked for a selfie (mega lolz), had a pint with the singer from It Bites (80s prog alert!!), hung out with Ben from 3 Colours Red (wow....), made sure Ross from Symposium got home safe....
Fucked.
Will be spending my 40th birthday tmw, deep in a forest, with the best company and no phone signal. After the alcoholic abuse of the past few days and the insane Chinese takeaway I've just had, it's just what's needed. 40. Fuck sake. It's punk rock son. Laters. X
Flying with the little man tmw morning, for the 1st time ever.
Holidaying with the little man and me, for the 1st time ever.
Really looking forward to that obligatory 5am pint of Doombar at Stansted airport.
Not looking forward to sitting on a plane again.
Happy Birthday to Lost Myself by the
@LongpigsBand
released on this day in 1996.
This was the final single from their debut album The Sun is Often Out and reached number 22 in the UK charts.
Fantastic song!
Morning out there!
Cracking post day!!
Anyone else adore this band / album as much as I do??

a 1995 hidden gem!
".....despite what
@Britpopmemories
says, the final nail in the coffin of britpop, was when Ultrasound delayed the release of their debut lp, Everything Picture til after the hype became a distant memory. But stay young and same band are lost classics of the era!!"
Review 49 came out this morning, I would suggest it’s a list classic Whipping Boy Heartworm, usual 30 second read, if u wish & if u do thanks very much
What an album!!!!
Only one other album came even vaguely close to this slice of 90s inflected genius this year, (High Vis - Blending if you're asking....)
Thanks
@spielbergsband
for making 2022 much more bearable. Xxxx

Initially released in 1996 and reaching 162 in the UK charts, it was re-released again after the success of their debut album, Pure, and reached number 48 in the UK chart.
On this day in 1997
#SilverSun
released the single Last Day.
The second single from their debut self titled album, it reached number 48 in the UK singles chart.
Fantastic song and a fantastic album from a fantastic band!
@Britpopmemories
Hmmm. Really wanted it to be decent, but it's really not. Will wait for the album before my final decision is made. It IS better than the 2 godawful Roses tunes from 2016, but that's not saying much really.....
Bizarre to think that back in 1995, Pulp really annoyed me for some reason. God knows why, as this album is a perfect encapsulation of all that's great about Britpop. I was a funny teenager. Think alot of it was the fact that I was ashamed to admit I was a nerd / outsider.
On this day in 1995,
@pulp2011
released their fifth studio album, Different Class.
It reached number 1 in the UK album charts and was released as Common People in Japan!
Such an influential album for me as a teenager, so many amazing songs!
So pleased they are back on tour!
It’s early, it’s here AND IT’S LIVE!

@therapyofficial
released their fantastic album, Semi-Detached
Released on tape, CD and limited edition box set of six 7" singles!
It reached number 21 in the UK album charts and included The singles Church of Noise & Lonely, Cryin', Only.
Fantastic!
And so here we are again at the hardest part of the year for me to get through. The regrets, the feeling of failure, the doubts, the times you fucked up for the 1000th time, the loneliness, the despair, the tiredness, the feeling of isolation, total exhaustion.....
The buzz and hype in the lead up to this release was MAD!!
Totally worth it all! A modern day british classic and one they struggled to follow up...... until the glorious sunset of this year's album!
Seeing them with HIFH in a tiny cambdidge pub in 2001 was immense! What a band
On this day in 2002,
@hundredreasons
released their debut album, Ideas Above Our Station on
@ColumbiaRecords
Fantastic album, had the pleasure of seeing them on this tour as well, I'll Find You is an amazing opening track!
Reached number 6 in the UK charts!

Want to listen to Dave talking about even MORE of his favourite tracks from the 90s? Well get on this when it comes out on Friday on the

podcast.
The greatest indie club of them all.
The narrow staircase up to the toilets. Lethal.
The same women behind the bar every Saturday, year after year.
3 cans of Norseman lager for a fiver.
Crappie vodka and rola cola to mix it with.
The stench of B&H fags.
Bloody miss it xx
Like I've always said, if the Manics had split up after this, they'd be one of the greatest bands of all time..... 4 for 4, all classics. Seeing then in 96 was so fkn special.
On this day in 1996,
@Manics
released their fourth studio album, Everything Must Go.
Their first since the disappearance of Richey Edwards, it reached number 2 in the UK charts. What a fantastic album!
25 years ago today Reading Festival '98 began.
An interesting mix of bands across the weekend.
I'd say Sunday's main stage line up is the best selection of bands although Page and Plant would've been quite a set I imagine!
On this day in 1996
@Terrorvision
released the single Bad Actress.
Reached number 10 in the UK charts. I bought the limited edition metal tin myself which hasn't survived very well, looking rather discolored now.
