The BOOM Part 2 We're about to add another to the list, and explore the implications. Disa didn't worsen the situation in Khazad-dûm. She fought against the one who did. (It wouldn't be the first losing song battle against the one who has "the mastery.")

#TROPspoilers Just finished a second viewing of ep. 1, and I no longer believe that one of the Valar bumped Círdan's ship when he attempted to dispose of the Rings. It's always Sauron who causes the BOOM.

Sauron saw. (realization that broke my brain is at the end—I'm not sure I'm just reading into things anymore) There's a way to say that Sauron sees things, without depicting his Eye as a ball of fire. (You know what someone's looking at by the reflection in their eye.)

SCULPTED THOUGHTS (Didn't use spoiler tags, so just proceed with caution. Tweets w/ spoilers have: ⚠️⚠️⚠️) The oddest part of Galadriel's darkest moment was not that she vowed to kill all Orcs, but that she used "piked ear" as an insult, when she herself has piked ears.

Two things. 1) If Celebrimbor is put in a dream world by Sauron (like Galadriel was in ep. 8), and it's happening in real time, that means he's seeing everyone happy and playing while they're actually being massacred.

Sauron's Timeline (I now have the utmost confidence in this theory since Comic-Con.) Let's start from the beginning of the Second Age, when Sauron was "brought low." Time references in the show were vague, but we can determine how long ago that was. Charlie Vickers, Deadline:

I've finally gathered my thoughts just enough to say how excited I am for scene comparisons. (e.g.) How does Sauron deal with traps when he's Halbrand vs. Annatar? (Even with 6 seconds of Annatar, I'm already fascinated by how differently and similarly Charlie carries himself.)

Comparing these images adds a lot of context (the beginning vs. the end). The way his hair is tied back (on the right) makes him look more prepared for battle or a fight, along with the tighter fit of his clothes, his stance, expression, etc. Everything is more harsh.

Exactly, because the "peace" Sauron gave is probably a filter over Celebrimbor's eyes. Celebrimbor says it's "hardly a gift," and demands to know what's been done to him. Sauron says, "Fine," and takes the filter off, Celebrimbor starts sobbing, and Sauron just stands there like:

#TROPSpoilers Okay, the 2nd picture is from the most recent trailer...and Círdan obviously looks different. His hair more blonde, he's clean-shaven. So a question, which happens first? does wearing Narya make Círdan younger looking? or is this a scene before the bearded one?

Reminder: No way is this guy going to carry on with the Southlands accent when he looks like this, and if we're this affected by mere images of him, the first clip we get of him speaking might put us in hospice.

Galadriel thought she hated Sauron in the beginning, because of the countless people she'd lost. But Halbrand gained her trust and she befriended him at her loneliest, making her hatred for Sauron that much more complete in the end.

Melkor's deeds in Valinor: "When he saw that many leaned towards him, Melkor would often walk among [the Noldor], and amid his fair words others were woven, so subtly that many who heard them believed in recollection that they arose from their own thought."

It's going to be interesting to see more parallels between Adar and Galadriel (Adar having accepted a deal vs. Galadriel who refused). Really excited to rewatch season 1 in a whole new light, after knowing exactly what happened between Sauron and Adar. Also, more Black Speech :D

(okay yes, I realize he said "what DOES it matter" and not "what'S it matter," but the point still stands.) He was already not using his own words, then said another phrase Sauron once used: "What's it matter? it's ashes now." ("What does it matter? It's over.")

Couple that with, "Thought the pattern suited me," and it seems that Sauron was planning to be the King of Men for over 1000 years. Then you wonder who started the Promised King prophecy. And how long ago it had been started (over 1000 years?)...

Then when you work backwards, you realize that Sauron watched stuff throughout the whole season. (I'll just list the ones I'm certain about.) As the Rings were forged, he watched Elrond investigate "what happened by that stream." Now he knows that Elrond is suspicious of him.

None of this is to say that Celebrimbor or Galadriel were being entirely controlled, per se. Sauron didn't have the One Ring yet. But! "It darkens the heart to call dark deeds good. It gives place for evil to thrive inside us. Every war is fought both without and within."

These kinds of images, side-by-side, remind you that no matter how different he looks or acts, underneath whatever mask Sauron wears is the same infamous, sadistic smile:

In all of those shots, the camera is twisting. Here are examples that have the *characters* twisting: - Míriel and Pharazôn watch the petals fall. - Galadriel sails to Valinor. - Galadriel's conversation with Elrond in Lindon.

"I will whisper in your piked ear." - Galadriel, in her right mind, wouldn't use "piked ear" as an insult. The only ones who would (and did) were Southlanders—those who hate Elves. But who else despises Elves (especially Adar)? And who else whispered threats in a piked ear?

⚠️⚠️⚠️ Especially since it's Patrick McKay's favorite part—when Sauron forges the Ring and EVOKES the poem. Sauron "evoking" the poem is fascinating. Because Celebrimbor wouldn't be using his own words with, "Three Rings for the Elven Kings under the sky," in Black Speech.
