For anyone wondering.... The GC SDK came with "emulator" libraries that were essentially native versions of all the DolphinOS components.... And the Pikmin team left their x86 compiled binary in the game by accident!
Yeah the Pikmin 1 Remake is cool but I like to play the original Windows version more! It even runs in Windows 10 Natively. I like it way more then the Gamecube or Wii Ports
Anybody wondering the legal implications here...
cubeboot is a runtime patching framework like Swiss
It does not use any copyrighted materials
It simply loads the ROM installed on the GC at runtime and executes it with patches in Memory
Very clean -- very elegant 😇
Today myself and
@ChrisPVille
and
@TeamOffBroadway
are proud to release an alpha version of cubeboot! A GameCube BS2 execution framework for IPL replacements! More details here:

Huge thank you to
@PCBWayOfficial
and
@SGirl0311
for sponsoring this video!
It's important to note that this will initially only be available with FlippyDrive -- it's the sole reason why I developed this feature and it's shaping up to be a very capable modchip
A few weeks back we announced FlippyDrive as the next
@TeamOffBroadway
project... Today we are announcing the project specs and release schedule!
It will be available for Pre-order September 9th for $25-$35
@ChrisPVille
Announcing FlippyDrive, the no-solder open-source disk emulator for the Gamecube! Featuring SD and WiFi disk loading, audio streaming, PicoW based with BLE/file/in-menu config, faster than all memcard slot/SD2SP/BBA methods. Developed by
@TeamOffBroadway
(
@trevorrudolph
and me)
Hey everyone!! I got some questions about how cubeboot works...
It is a patching framework!! So it loads the BIOS into memory, changes a few instructions, then boots the BIOS! It contains no copyrighted material...
It just runs the built-in BIOS program on the gamecube!
Just installed the Flippydrive from
@ChrisPVille
and
@trevorrudolph
, and it works like a charm! Of course I don’t have an SD card for software updates or roms yet, but I will soon! Finally I’ll be able to use the Game Boy Player
Today I'm looking at an upgrade for the GameCube that unlocks a ton of functionality and doesn't need a soldering iron to install.

Hello there little SD card. Flippy Drive SD Extension mount is almost perfect first try. Will need to adjust the mount angle just slightly and move it back a bit, the SD card's grip edge is catching on the lid.
Happy October 6th! Today myself and
@TeamOffBroadway
are releasing cubeboot v0.1.2!
This release adds support for GCLoader and removes the pesky partial boot animation.
This release also includes a fix for GCVideo + PAL, along with some SD card fixes.
The first GameCube Homebrew program with DVD Audio Streaming capabilities!
The ADPCM is padded so you hear a little blip in the audio when it loops.
WARNING: Headphone users, this is quite a loud Sine wave
Just got these dropped off at the shop today, doing some speed tests, and they are matching and beating other SD Extensions in speed.
Now I need to finish the printed part for a No-Cut Flippy Boot Extension Mount!
We are really excited to be able to get this out to people. Anybody who wants to keep their working GC will be able to keep it running for a long long time!
Good FlippyDrive news. We now have an agreement in place with a popular platform, and there will be an announcement soon. This was our plan A, and will let us produce big batches quickly without the types of protracted out of stock issues common in retro stuff
@Ybalrid
These are all really good questions.
This is a loader like Swiss, as it helps you pick the game you want to play but it is not homebrew, it is a patched version of the BIOS
It loads the BIOS directly from the GameCube so it patches at runtime. Yes it is compatible with PicoBoot
@f4micom
It's true!! Nintendont is just a clever wrapper around Wii's hardware to make an environment that is similar to the GC without using the hardware compat mode
Thanks to the open-source-soon benchmark
@trevorrudolph
is writing, I found some places to improve speed. Not perfect yet but 200us onset and 9MB/s+ for big uncached SD card transfers via exfat is getting close to saturing the interface and way better than disk. Good enough I bet
Status update. Good news is the big batch from the fab works perfectly, software is nearly feature complete. Bad news is we unexpectedly need to find a new merchant solution that can support our expected volume. We’re in talks with a few folks and should know more in a few days.
Status update! All the parts for the first batch are now on order, and we're looking more like 8 weeks out given the delivery estimates/assembly time, etc. We're also working hard on software, mostly on making sure updates go smoothly for people 1/2
And after a day of testing with my lovely testers

we have cubeboot working on PicoBoot, GCLoader and Viper... I will give an updated release timeline once I finish the last couple features
Guess what showed up today?
THE FLIPPY DRIVE EXTENDER FROM
@COLLINGALL
!
And yes, I am going to be pushing back the Harley NES videos another week to compensate.
This video will be shown on July 6th!
I'm taking longer than I thought to make a PoC for the
#cubeboot
custom menu, so I'll be releasing 0.1.4 with just the PAL Progressive fix and button assignments for DOL files.
