The KillMii is finished! It's a fully functional Wii portable inside an actual Altoids tin. It runs hot, has a 10 minute battery life, and awful controls, but it's a real Wii inside (not an emulator.) It's the worst thing ever.
Cards that are currently complete or mostly complete:
- HDMI/DVI/VGA input
- Buffered video output
- USB C dock / video input
- OTA digital TV tuner (ATCS)
- PS Vita TV
- Raspberry Pi 4 8gb
- Intel N100 (x86-64) Windows 11 PC
- Google TV + Chromecast
-Wii
I put a Wii inside a BVM. Other than controllers, only needs a single power cable. It's on a modular card, so it pulls right out. No modifications to the monitor itself
Finished another PVM card. This card, when installed, lets me watch live, over-the-air broadcast TV on it. The current digital standard, including HD broadcasts, on this professional CRT.
I present to you: The greatest portable Melee rig to ever exist.
-9" 480p capable broadcast CRT
-Internal Wii through a modular, removable input card
-Removable AC PSU can be replaced with a 95WHr USB-C PD V-Mount battery (estimated 2 hour battery life)
@EdMisato
USB C and the Lighting connectors are both deep holes, and those are waterproof. My galaxy S5 and S8 were both water resistant, despite having headphone jacks.
The excuses they make are untrue. Wireless headphones have huge margins, and don't last, so big recurring revenue.
They work wirelessly and all that stuff. They are real 1st party joycons on the inside, so they have full functionality. Only thing they don't have is the IR camera
My Virtual Boy portable is finished, and the video is now live on YouTube. I spent a year making this project, and more work went into this video than any previous video. I hope you all like it.
Prediction: A Chinese company is going to see my GC Joycons, and start producing their own. We will all rejoice... until we buy them and realize they feel exactly like those god awful 3rd party GameCube controllers. Tweeting this now so I can retweet when it happens.
Shoutouts to gman for dropping helping me finish it up. Here's a link to his YouTube channel.
(Bonus picture of it before we put the 3ds slider caps on it)
The PCBs, 3D Printable models, and parts list to build Wesk's open-source Ashida are now live on
@4LayerTech
! You can purchase the parts needed to build one at our store
Arrived home safely from Canada for my colab with
@LinusTech
. Their entire team is incredible. I'm so proud of the build we were able to put together. It was an amazing week I'll never forget, and I cannot wait to see how the video turns out
The Xbox 360 is probably the most versatile console out there in terms of output resolution options. It supports 11 resolutions through HDMI/DVI (not including 480i) including options for 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios.
Today I took a big leap of faith. I quit my job to go full-time on my YouTube channel and 4Layer Tech. It's a big (and scary) step in my life, but I'm confident in the road forward that I've worked so hard to prepare.
1 Year ago, I released my video showcase of the GameCube Joycons. This video led to explosive growth of my channel, and has had a profound impact on my life
I put a whole damn Windows 11 PC on a PVM card.
-Intel N100 CPU (yes, it can run games)
-12gb DDR5
-512GB NVME ssd
-x3 USB 3 A ports
-Full sized HDMI video out
-3.5mm audio jack
-Active cooling
Video output card. Buffers whatever the active video signal is within the monitor, and spits exactly the same signal out through VGA or BNC connectors. Effectively adds video output for all my cards. Whatever is being sent to the monitor down the card slot gets spit out
I've had a secret prototype of the LTT screwdriver for months I've been using extensively. But today a package showed up with 3 final screwdrivers. So awesome to finally be holding the final driver.
Thank you
@LinusTech
for sending them out
This is LCD propaganda. A real CRT would not only have survived the fall, but obliterated both the dummy and the floor. They don't make em like they used to.
My friend Madmorda made these incredible custom Animal Crossing JoyCons. She doesn't have a twitter, so I'm posting them here for her. Her work is amazing, and Ill have some links in the thread
I think the idea of getting a "good deal" at a retro gaming convention is basically dead. Vendors just price everything based on ebay/price charting. Anything priced under market value is usually just scooped up before the doors open by other vendors to flip at their own booth.
Kamp made GameCube Joycons better than I did. He took my original GameCube Joycons, improved them, and made them 3d Printable. He's a brilliant and cool dude. Go follow him.
Seeing the recently released wavebird-joycon style controller made me want to share an in-progress project that I’ve been working on for a while now: 3D Printed Gamecube Joycons that have almost every feature included in original Joycons!

My friend Gman_modz made an incredible N64 Portable. This isn't an emulator, it uses a REAL N64 motherboard and real N64 carts. 100% compatibility, no glitches. He just uploaded a full video overview! (link in the thread)
Found an old picture of a portable melee rig I built back in 2015. Entire thing ran off a single 12VDC jack, so could run it off wall adapter, car power, or even a (12v or 14.8v) battery pack. Was much better to play on than you'd expect, given the size.
@MintBlitz
He's right tho. Bungie hasn't made a good (or even playable) Halo game since 2010. This is just my opinion, but I feel like they just gave up on Halo after Reach, and aren't even trying to make Halo games anymore.
They bully and strongarm any community project they don't like out of existence, even when they are legal, because they know communities are too small to fight back. Sony vs Bleem set the precedent that emulators like Yuzu are legal. But the law doesnt matter when you're Nintendo
Tonight I finished working on a very special PS2 Slim. It was given to me by a dear friend, the late
@PostmanMods
, the last time I saw him. Gather round as I tell you the story behind it...
Y'all. Chill. Screwdrivers under a certain length are allowed on carry-ons. I've brought my stubby screwdriver on pretty much every flight I've been on for the past year.

Thought I'd share my Steam Deck support/repair experience.
The left shoulder button tact switch has started to fail. I hit up support, and they said it's out of warranty and said the estimate would be $185 plus taxes to repair, but final cost could be more.
Added the first blocked words to my YouTube channel comments section. For sure one of the most annoying forced meme campaigns I've ever seen on YouTube.

"Nintendo actively funds lobbying that prevents even libraries from being able to provide legal access to these games"
Nintendo is such an awful company.
