Since a lot of people seem interested in this topic, this is the agency that the hospital she died at sent another bill to, <45 days after her death. I saw it when I reported her death to the credit agency. Good to be educated if you face this!

Yes, trying to deal with all these institutions at once and trying to do the “right thing” while protecting your legal rights is really a lot. Our credit union handled it like a pro. The rep at Chase did not understand what deceased meant.

Thank you for the condolences. Honestly, I laughed for a good 5 mins after I got off the phone. A lot of closing someone’s life after death has been absurd. I should have told them sorry, her mailbox in the afterlife where she can receive bills is still under construction. 😂

Because they would call my dad who is having a hard time and blind. With his vision, recognizing & blocking phone numbers is hard. I am following procedures to invoke his rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act so they can’t call him. Then we can disregard mail.

Yes! I have a very specific personality. I am very good with complicated rules- I worked in govt for 15 years and not afraid of bureaucracy. I can’t imagine for anyone who is elderly or particularly vulnerable having to deal with this.

A few people asked this so not dumb. No because my parents did not live in a community property state. Her assets became 100% his if they owned them together before she died. They had a will and made sure accounts were joined 4 years ago. The debt my mom has is only medical debt.

My son goes to school 13 miles from here in the same Georgia public health district that advised our neighbor school system that the emergency is so great, we cannot have visitors to our school, mask or not. No parents, zero extracurriculars. (1/)

Yes. I think about how the internet changed all that. The top debt collection agency for the deceased has this private product so companies can track estates easily. They sell it to other collectors. Collecting money is not as expensive now as it was then.

We had a child with chemo in our class last year. This is exactly how it was handled by his dr and family. He was often too sick to be in the building during his treatment, and when he was better, he was in the class like every other kid. He missed his friends and normalcy.

I was at the BOS airport on Thursday and did a self-checkout kiosk where I got my own drink and did not interact with anyone… and it recommended a 20% tip.
I did all the work!
Prices are extremely high in the U.S. and the 20% tipping on things that shouldn't be tipped makes them obscene.

I work in an industry with a very low vax rate (weddings) in the south, and am hiring, so I speak to a lot of unvaxed. They fall into 3 distinct camps (1) worried about fertility (most), (2) they think a mask is the same as a vaccine, and (3) medical freedom (least). (1/x)
72% of the unvaccinated said they'd quit after a mandate. In real life, few do. Studies show older people are vulnerable to misinformation and Fox News, and yet almost all are vaccinated. What explains this? My piece of the sociology of the unvaccinated.

I went to 2 performances with masks & never again. One, I was sitting in the balcony, looking down, & mask interfered with my peripheral vision. The 2nd, staff walked around aggressively enforcing the mask mandate while the artist was performing and blocked my view.

The real issue is not masks, IMO. It’s that most schools in DeKalb county do not allow parents in the building or extra curriculars due to COVID. It makes the schools and Abrams appear insensitive to parents, which is politically dumb. The whole event should not have happened.

I have an Airbnb and we charge $200 cleaning for 4 beds/sleeps six. Two people for a 4 hr turnover at $25 an hour, not even a great wage. There is a long list of things they have to do for Airbnb & often have messes like crayon on the TV or sh*t in the bathroom.
