Ik this is half joking, but there really is a jarring amount of censorship (of varying intentionality) between even the most Classical of texts and what is brought into translation. Eg, Marathus, Tibullus’ male paramour, is entirely left out of his Encyclopedia Britannica entry.
I see a lot of people saying 'what use is Latin?'.The answer is simple: You still can't easily find English translations of the filthiest of Martial's epigrams.
