Argentina had some good players in 2014 but didn't play as nicely as they did in 2022.
To play champagne football in a World Cup final with Messi being the epitome of everything 2022 Argentina did well was even more special.

Win or lose I will always remember this generation of Argentinans. We have come such a long way from the 2018 disaster, building a competitive team for the next WC seemed to be an insurmountable task, but we defied all odds. It’s all in gods hands now.

Garnacho has neither, so he should be omitted.

Honestly I am not sure how Pezzella keeps getting into the squad, he doesn’t really distribute well nor is he mobile enough to play in a high line.
Maybe in the past we lacked quality CB, but it’s hard to understand now when there is Balerdi, Senesi & Medina left at home.

It’s hilarious no one talks about the 2 missed red cards against Argentina in 2014. Not only were they more clear decisions, but Argentina played well enough to win that final.
Penalty or not, France were undersiege for 90% of the final. Argentina played much better.
This guy is trying to argue Messi was offside for making a run and his goal should be disallowed lmao. Honestly. Anyway here is a clip of a clear red card challenge in the World Cup 2014 final.
Ronaldo fans are VERY lucky Messi does not have 2 WCs.

It was a shocking team but part of the problem was Sampaoli being insistent on playing possession football. Mercado-Fazio-Otamendi-Acuna is a strong defence line if we played a low block. Playing Meza, Salvio & Perez over Lo Celso, Di Maria and Papu was criminal.

I think Scaloni needs to unleash Julian’s playmaking ability at NT level by allowing him to drop need to receive the ball & provide key passes to others like Messi, Mac Allister and De Paul. It would make us even more hard to deal with tactically, more free-flowing in attack.

The difference is Haaland is playing every match because of his transfer fee. Alvarez would complement Guardiola’s first team so much better.

Honestly I can’t understand what happened to Paredes at PSG. Many times the coach would start Danilo-Verratti-Gueye when it was clear the MF needed a tempo setting regista. When Paredes was subbed off vs RMA, the match completely changed.

Factos. The truth is great players, they can adapt their game after injuries to be more technical in close spaces, more of a playmaker, more dangerous from set pieces. CR definitely adapted but he’s not even close to Messi.

Argentina’s players in general are very underrated because most don’t get a ton of PR. I think what made us so good during this 3 year run was teams thought we had poor players, so they tried pressing high against us. But our players are very technical, they easily bypassed it.

Argentina do not have any midfielders of Bentancur’s caliber, but I wonder if Paredes or Palacios should start ahead of Enzo just to man-mark James & still be able to break lines.

It’s the correct decision in my opinion.
We lost to Saudi & struggled Vs Australia cuz Otamendi wasn’t that good at ball progression, he made it easy to press our back line.
Canada plays very much the same way, and honestly they are extremely quick.

Look at Leo, so many games since the WC, he’s had no problem sitting games out to nurse injuries.
