PSA: Barcelona does not have the finances to build a complete squad of CL level footballers that can compete in 3 separate competitions
How this isn’t understood since it’s been true for years now is beyond me
Tim Ream did things Zimmerman has never done on a pitch while wearing the US kit. I will be tweeting this incessantly until the community at large cedes this point. Gregg has been wrong all along with many of his selections. Our “best CB” demonstrated that last night 🇺🇸⚽️🫠
Jessie Marsch is flexing so hard on Gregg by showing him how to properly execute a high press. He's even using Adams more effectively than Berhalter ever has or will
@USMNT
Those players were not B squad guys. Those were C squad. The B squad guys were literally sitting on the bench or sitting at home watching our C squad guys put in the worst USMNT performance in years. We need to get this straight as a fan base.
We have never before been able to see anything like this as US soccer fans. This is football and it's incredibly beautiful. I have literally waited my whole life for tonight and nothing about it disappointed. Welcome to the game of FOOTBALL. I almost cried.
Can anyone make a case for any of the 9 MLS guys Gregg brought? After what we saw? They either rode the bench, we’re ineffective as subs or downright awful as starters. Cmon people…
People really think so poorly of Pefok they are starting to say that our other 9's would be performing as well as him in his new environment. Excuse me, based on what? Union are top of the Bundesliga. This shit is wild.
I really don’t get how y’all still simp for Gregg after he lied (again) saying Reyna’s tried to blackmail him. Remember how this started: Gregg told he Reyna wouldn’t play, then lied to the media that is was due to an injury. Just connect a few dots morons it’s simple 🇺🇸⚽️😭
People sticking their heads in the sand over our CBs and CFs - let's break it down:
Gregg is leaving behind 2 of our 3 best strikers & 2 of our 3 best center backs.
The only problem w these positions is Berhalter himself
@USMNT
@ussoccer
Do people realize if we played our best defenders consistently to the point they developed into a cohesive unit we wouldn’t need to be scared of a Musah-Mckennie-Reyna trio having enough defensive cover.
Cause we wouldn’t need to cover up a defensive dumpster fire.
Gregg created a locker room that is undisciplined, unfocused, egoistic and lacks any level of accountability
If you’re a yes man & kiss the ring, that’s all that matters
This only creates an environment where Weah/Dest temper tantrums are more likely to happen
And they have
Busio & Tessmann continue to run Venezia’s midfield, pretty much locked starters who play the majority of available minutes
The all 🇺🇸 midfield is back in an auto-promotion spot in a tight race for 2nd
Both playing 😮💨 both deserve looks
@USMNT
@WhyThisHat
Nope really not at all. I am pointing out when the MLS guys clearly struggle because I am of the opinion that they shouldn’t be there. The MLS is a devo/feeder league so players should be developed & fed to Europe. Then they make the USMNT when they show it abroad
I can’t believe Acosta really came out trying to hype up MLS guys and downplay players abroad. Antithetical to progress. Not a winning mentality. No wonder Gregg loves him 😬
@InterMiamiHub
@FootballReprt
You lose the header if you’re late. Very simple. Taking a player out without attempting to play the ball is not a legal play regardless of how you do it.
@Nicocantor1
Gregg telling them the result of another match when they need to be focused on beating Uruguay, which would be the best win of Gregg’s international career by a lot, is indicative of the lack of seriousness from the top down
Well Luca just carried the ball from midfield, played it out wide & got a lucky bounce on the return pass before slotting home his first goal for Celta Vigo from just inside the box 🇺🇸⚽️🔥🔥🔥
Just FYI Tanner Tessmann & Gianluca Busio currently sit tied for the top spot in Serie B
The boys might just be getting this squad back to Serie A
@USMNT
pay them their dues
They at minimum deserve to be prominent pieces at the Olympics, though both should get first team 👀
@away_goals
Dude you are so bad at this. That is not the same thing. Gregg benched Reyna. Dortmund did no such thing. It’s really funny to me you guys present as indie/not in the mainstream & yet you basically push a watered down version of the nonsense perpetuated by US Soccer media
Guys Zardes has been benched by his MLS squad. They are looking to transfer him. Nothing against him but he is not on the level. Defending his call up shows your agenda. It’s really that simple 🤷♂️ the hypocrisy around form + league level is real.
📋 Blauw-Zwart begint de oefenpot straks met Mignolet, Mata, Mechele, Otasowie, Skov Olsen, Balanta, Vormer, Sandra, Buchanan, Jutglà & Lang.
#CluFck
Het matchformat is 45+45+30 minuten, met telkens na 45 minuten een kwartier pauze. ⏱️
Dating back to last March, Haji Wright (24) 🇺🇸 has put up 12g/3a in his last 13 league matches for Antalyaspor. That's a goal contribution every 71' over 13 starts. Can someone please explain how he is not in form because it just seems like people don't care about facts.
I am smiling from ear to ear. That was amazing. We handled England and ran the midfield. The boys put in the best performance we’ve seen in awhile, maybe ever. Tim Ream is a goddamn American hero 🇺🇸⚽️💪
John Brooks was benched due to one play that included mistakes by:
-Sands/Acosta double pivot easily bypassed
-Adams at RB who failed to track his guy
-Miles Robinson who did literally nothing: didn’t mark anyone, track anyone, track the play, fucking muppet
Neither Miles Robinson nor Walker Zimmerman have ever had a USMNT performance as bad as John Anthony Brooks 2016 away at Costa Rica World Cup Qualifier.
Or John Brooks 2021 away at Honduras World Cup Qualifier.
The only system for a NT coach is to put your best players on the pitch in the nest possible way for them to succeed at what they do best. Nothing else is relevant, least of all "propping" players up - if they need that they shouldn't be there in the first place
@USMNT
Christian Cappis is quickly becoming underrated for the
@USMNT
- bummer he didn't have any involvement to this point as he's a nice player: good touch, great passing, has can play LB as well as 6/8 ⚽️🇺🇸📈
@paulfabretti
Yeah we aren’t including any other sports which both ESPN and Peacock offer a fair amount of. Paramour has the Masters and several women’s leagues as well (I forgot to ad that 🥲). Anyone with some sense could’ve told you this would be unsuccessful.
@kickswish
I’m pretty sure Marsch based in Europe and paying more attention to European players would be as good if not better. International players would also know they have more of a fair shot at making the squad even if they’re not in the MLS.
I’d love for all our MLS center backs to move to Crystal Palace or Wolfsburg so people could see how quickly they get benched and understand how low the level of defending is in the MLS.
Unsurprisingly Alan Soñora is set to leave Independiente as a free agent at the end of the year. A transfer to
@MLS
was always on the cards and El Rojo can’t match the offer (via
@gastonedul
)
I'm not convinced people have watched much of Haji Wright in Turkey. Practically no one seems to be rating based on his club play, just his brief appearance w the NT.
@USACFC_
@USMNT_Thoughts
What? He was playing for Abramovich whose country we are almost at war w - just say you don’t like Newcastle instead of this moral posturing
