Life update: Today is my last day at Polygon
The last two years have been a wild ride! I joined Polygon thanks to
@dtyagi
and
@rahatcodes
, my focus was developer education and eventually Head of Dev Rel Engineering. At Polygon, I’ve met tons of developer communities, built some
Had to adjust my title but I'm still pleased to announce that I've been appointed Lead Developer Relations Engineering (DRE) at
@0xPolygon
. It's an amazing time to be leading DRE efforts in the same month as the launch of Polygon zkEVM and Polygon ID.
Happy to announce my first full time Web3 gig began this week at
@coordinape
as a software engineer. Very excited about the protocol and it’s ability to change reward mechanisms across the DAO ecosystem.
13 year old
@leoa0x
does it again!! His project, CryptoPay, was the only project that met the criteria for the Polygon zkEVM bounty at EthGlobal Lisbon. Congrats to him on bagging the full $5k prize!
I've been delving into in all things Zero-Knowledge since joining
@0xPolygon
and it's been a wild ride. I've put together this 2 part article that attempts to summarize my ZKP journey and provide a succinct guide to all zk-curious devs out there
Are you a straight white male developer? Are you bored, looking for a new challenge? Have you considered developer relations? Major Web3 protocols are looking for straight white males just like you to be the face of their protocol.
Qualifications: High X Follower count only
A lot of people came up to me during EthDenver to ask "who will win the zkEVM race?" Even though I work at
@0xPolygon
, my consistent refrain is the winners are the USERS, they will have more options across multiple chains. It's easy to forget who we are doing this for.
Does Africa Need Its Own L2?
Easy answer: No. Developers can choose any sidechain, Alt-L1, L1, L2 or L3
Real answer: Yes, absolutely yes. It’s about the ecosystem.
I found myself pacing in a supermarket aisle thinking about this so someone can tell me why this is a bad idea.
Being an early stage crypto founder is like being the prettiest girl in school weeks before prom. Every L2 has a 100k grants program available today if you promise not to deploy on any other chain. My brother in Christ, if you want loyalty, start a religion.
Giving away 5 memberships to

I'm hiring a Senior DevRel Engineer in North America. If you want to help build the future of the internet at
@0xPolygonLabs
, you love developers and their journeys, and you are excited about L2s, Defi, ZK or identity, please consider applying.
I won’t be going to DevConnect Istanbul because my visa was approved, but the Turkish Mission in Port of Spain doesn’t have a working printer for my visa; it’s wild. Anyway, if you’re on the fence about going to Istanbul, here are two reasons why I think you should.
1.
💔😮 After 5 years of marriage, I’ve fallen in love with another person. Now, before you jump to conclusions, let me tell you about this new love that has swept me off my feet and completely changed my life. 🧵
I'm hiring for a Developer Relations Engineer based in Europe. If you have experience as an engineer and are passionate about building developer communities in Europe, please consider applying

@jarrodWattsDev
and I are cool to work with
Ok, so here's a thread about why I joined
@0xPolygon
and why I'm made the switch to Developer Education. Over the last year, I've had numerous conversations with developers who are getting into Web3 and I began to notice a trend. I call it Solidity purgatory.
One time I worked at a credit union and the managers at the time were straight laughing at a guy who came in to borrow the equivalent of $30. He had savings in the credit union and he didn’t want to suffer the indignity of asking a friend so he came to get a loan. Listen, the
I’ve been mulling this over for a while now and I think it’s time to have ETHNairobi. A simple 3 day event in the heart of the city I love. If anyone wants to help me set this up, slide into my DMs.
Let’s stop the tyranny of Eth Event Driven Development. No, your next product milestone doesn’t have to be ready in time for DevCon, or EthDenver or {insert event here}. Just cook, deliver a delightful experience and say no to the pressure.
Signed,
Engineering Team
I've had a lot of interesting conversations this week with various protocols and they want to know how to think about DevRel; what works and what doesn't. I won't purport to know the answer but if you ask me who has the best devrel org, the answer is Chainlink. Here's why 🧵
In my first instalment of "ZK for the Rest of Us", I'm gonna talk about zero-knowledge EVMs or zkEVMs. There's a lot of hype around zkEVMs, but do you know how many types of zkEVMs there are? Vitalik defined 4 types, let's take a look.
If you see me at
@EFDevcon
Bogota and you want to join
@developer_dao
, stop me and let me know and I’ll hook you up. Committed to reducing my $CODE token allocation to 400. 13k to go, that’s at least 30 D_D sponsorships.
Having finally left Brussels, I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who showed me love after the
@vifi_cc
soft launch this week. We’ve been grinding for 8 months before this week’s announcement and we are floored by outpouring of support from the stablecoin,
Zero proof is a good way to drink your alcohol, not run an L1 or Optimistic rollup. The Type 1 prover is a great way to secure your liquidity using stronger ZK guarantees. We said it, we meant it. ZK is the end game.
Releasing the Type-1 upgrade to the zkEVM prover, the next generation of Polygon’s proving tech. It can generate proofs for any EVM chain—sidechain, optimistic rollup, even Ethereum itself.
When proving Ethereum mainnet blocks, avg per-transaction costs are $0.002 - $0.003.
If a Devrel team has 4 members, and there are 400 submissions and 4 hours to judge, how much time do you think they'll have to judge your project, anon? Stop coding and focus on building your narrative. Your code is there to demonstrate your intent, don't run down the clock.
Dear protocol/DAO, if you can’t find Solidity devs and your job boards lists only Senior Solidity Developer roles, maybe it’s time you consider hiring Junior Solidity devs who show promise? Craft spaces for everyone and you will be rewarded!
And to think that we started with a buggy smart contract and a discord server... look at
@developer_dao
now. Maaaan, it's been a wild ride. Also, bless up
@dabit3
and the countless people who keep building the most vibrant Web3 community in the world.
Still amazed by all the good work Impact Plus and Polygon are doing in the global South. I’ve spent the last month working closely with Impact Plus team across Africa and I’m continually amazed by their dedication and commitment to bring real impact!!

Zero-knowledge proofs have dominate Ethereum narratives this year, and in this video, I take you through what it takes to build your own ZK circuit using Circom so that you can become your own ZK developer! A brief primer below 🧵
I'm happy to share the second instalment of my Introduction to Zero-Knowledge Proofs using Circom series. In this article, I introduce a few Circom features and review a few Circom circuits that'll help anyone understand what ZKP dev is.
Key to DevRel success is LOVE. You have to love people, love devs, love seeing humans striving to build something and make something of themselves and being ready to support them in every way possible.

6 weeks on the road, meeting amazing builders, speaking and facilitating events in 6 countries with only a few days in between. Headed home tomorrow for some much needed consistency. Grateful for the opportunity to talk to developers in various locations
I know I'm asking for a lot, but for this month alone, kindly
#BoycottEmirates
until they respond to my last communication and reimburse my UK travel expenses, run sensitization training at JKIA and just treat us better.
Dear Protocol organising a DevConnect Istanbul event, please don't host a solo event. Work with your "competitors" and collaborators and put on a meaningful, impactful event that focuses on delivering value to the attendee, not just shill you.
Best,
Anon with decision anxiety
There are things about working in Web3 that nothing could have prepared me for. For example, met a dude who said they’re an investor in (insert 5 BIG protocols). I was intrigued. Tell me why it took dude 20 mins to admit that he’s an airdrop farmer?
An unintended air travel habit I’ve picked up is that I fall asleep immediately after buckling my seatbelt. I don’t even make it to the safety briefing. Anyway, about to get to Lisbon. Excited to be at my second
@ETHGlobal
event for the year. Can’t wait to meet with builders!
When I see paid testnets, what you're saying is you don't care about the global South. No one in the decision room knows what it means to not have a credit card, to pay a week's wages on gas fees, to have your access to USD limited due to forex controls and Western blacklisting
Totally blown away

teams at EthBogota. Those women are Amazonian. There's no way you bring that many women together and don't end up dominating as much as they did. Also
@0ceans404
is an amazing mentor and role model, among many others ofc.
The most use I’ve gotten from Starlink has been from their box that I put under this table so my daughter doesn’t crawl under it. The box has less latency than the actual network.
One of the most timeline enriching decisions I made was to follow more natural hair stylists so I can understand my wife’s hair journey better. Natural hair Twitter is fascinating and this account has the hottest and most common sense takes. You love to see it.
Sometimes I don’t know how to help y’all. Emerging markets are the largest stablecoin holders and rather than building consumer apps for real world users, you’ll fund another L2 with proof on “n”. Hfsp
PSA: Your Twitter DMs matter.
The time is early 2021 and I was looking for my first Web3 role. Followed a bunch of folks and was grinding nights and weekends learning everything Web3.
@META_DREAMER
had his DMs open so I pinged him, and he gave the most solid advice on how to
I’ll be deploying a smart contract later tonight with a single function that allows you to submit eth and the name of the protocol that you think
@camiinthisthang
is going to. Rewards will be split by all successful guesses.

The trouble with
#FlyingWhileAfrican
is that you can have everything, EVERYTHING. You can be fully compliant but the airline or border control agent can shut you down with no reason. I leave for the airport sometimes not knowing if I'll actually board, so I check and double-check
So you changed your parent branch from "master" to "main" but maybe there's more you can do to support African developers. W3A's first Gitcoin round is now LIVE!
Over the past year, we've run boot camps, given away laptops and helped onboard many African developers to Web3. We

@isaaczara_
you love to see the love.
Friendly reminder to you, a Web3 builder: Develop the capacity to say no. It’s hard, lots of exciting stuff in the space. You can’t do it all. Say no, and focus.
