Sorted a few heifers off for the replacement sale in Saskatoon on friday. All home raised red angus/char cross sired mainly by Sparrow bulls. April/may born out of a low input no BS closed herd (25 yrs+)these heifers will go out and work for you.
Dugout ran dry at this pasture so I put a bored well in and ended up with 20 gallons a minute recovery rate. Thanks to Wellen boring out of Saskatoon they were there doing a test hole Friday and boring it on Tuesday. All ready for next spring.

Once again the low assessed, low valued, low lying land along the creek that some say is no good and just a bunch of alkali is the only place anything is growing in this drought and heat we’ve had. It’s the only thing keeping us going.

As much as I like a 4 strand barbed wire fence this goes up fast , easy , and is cheap to build especially when if it gets wet again it could flood or heave out and will hold any animal I have
#fallgrazing
Baiting some cows up to move them home soon. This group has been digging for stock piled grass under over a foot of snow for the last month. Lots are coming 3rd calvers and are all in great shape going into winter coming off grass.
#extendedgrazing
Swath grazing the bred heifers and second calvers on a barley/brassica mix. Great weather great feed. No need to supplement grain to them when they are on feed like this.
Should have this little straw project wrapped up tomorrow was a bit out of our comfort zone to go an hour away to bale straw but we got it done and hauled. Thanks to Steve primrose and the irrigation district around outlook and Anthony

A little
#balegrazing
experiment with this messed up spring weather we decided to throw the heifer calves on some bale grazing since cows are in the yard calving we need to use it up. Seems to be working good so far
#parkedthemixerwagon
This field was planned for grazing but drought and price and availability of feed has changed plans. Things are getting worse by the day.

Swath grazing decided to come out of hibernation, was lots lost under the snow that come to stay in early November but we are getting it now
#springthaw
Over head pics of the fire we fought on Tuesday. Hi winds plus dry stubble and it nearly burned 2 farm yards got lucky it did as little damage as it did never seen a fire like that before hope I don’t see one again
@4FAngusBoy
Bale grazing one group by putting out 4 days worth at a time. And it’s greenfeed. Hay doesn’t really grow here anymore lol. At least it only costs us once every 4 days
First year growing corn seeded may 11 no rain for 5 weeks after seeding and it wasn’t all up until the first of June now some is 4-5 ft high. Lots to learn already know a few things to do different for next time but at least if frost stays away it won’t be a total disaster
