Again, you are arguing more about the messenger. The message itself is correct, at least on that point. The question you want to debate is degrees of prioritizing, etc. and the applicability of the concept. Good arguments, some I have differences with, others I am in agreement on. Martin despises the messenger and because of that he tries to discredit a concept that is correct. That's harmful.

Again, here's what Vance said: "There is a Christian concept that you love your family and then you love your neighbor, and then you love your community, and then you love your fellow citizens, and then after that, prioritize the rest of the world A lot of the far left has completely inverted that." That's what Vance said that James Martin objects to. Vance appealed to ordo amoris, an Augustinian concept.

But what J.D. Vance said was precisely that. And that the United States' government's job is to prioritize Americans. My kids' bedrooms are smaller than others in the neighborhood but plenty adequate, and in many nations several children share much smaller places. By your standard, we should open those bedrooms up to at least three or four other children each. Why aren't my expensive school districts sending its excess resources out to downstate schools (or even better yet schools in Djibouti) when the $30K per student here is more than enough? I guarantee you neither school board have a majority of Trump-Vance voters.
