Today is quite special in our @ycombinator journey. As many other startups, we have pivoted away from CodeMuse and into @OnedocLabs . We liked CodeMuse but we soon understood we were solving a tech challenge rather than a user problem. It seems tables have turned though! 😄

Spent the afternoon building a simple animated masonry layout for @OnedocLabs - something that seems simple enough but requires a bit of CSS wizardry. What do you think?

Just got back from the @ycombinator group office hours. 1. Get the last empty whiteboard and write all the advice we gathered. 2. Iterate on our company 2-liner to make is simple and appealing. Never trust your memory, take notes!

It's been great to use @intercom for our user feedback. This brings so much value as you can have a very informal discussion and be just as you are – a human.

Chatting in real-time with people on our website has been a great way to get some feedback and discuss our users' needs. @intercom makes it super easy to chat and give that sense of realtime-ness to our users. Feels great!

Worked pretty hard this week at @CodeMuseApp to implement an efficient graph and semantic boosting using @OramaSearch and #graphology . Very efficient and much better results! Happy to share some insights if some of you are interested in #hybridsearch !

CodeMuse became @OnedocLabs right after the beginning of the @ycombinator batch. Some may wonder why we moved away from an otherwise appealing Gen-AI product. After many discussions with similar founders we setup a small post explaining it all.

Being a @ycombinator founder requires a lot of thought-out work. But this is only possible when we can master our work-life balance. This may be very well the reason to why the Bay is so successful for founders. Every once in a while, we can take a much needed step back.

Good advice we got is that people want to test things right away! At @CodeMuseApp we make an IDE extension - not easy to test live. That's where the playground comes in: use the tool as if it were inside your IDE, but right from your web browser. Quite happy with the result!

@_miloi My take is that the experience the first users have will set the tone and the confidence they have in your product. You can't expect a basic product to behave badly or be poorly designed, because then what about a more complex one?

@Amol14551190 This is very dense, also there are some graphic inconsistencies (e.g. the size of the bullets). I would try to play with color to put emphasis where it is due, and remove it where it doesn't belong (e.g. the VIDEO LINK tags call out way too much => maybe only 1)

@fahirmdz I think your CTAs could really use some help. The "Start Coding Smarter" button is sharing emphasis with the social proof. I also think the hero could be a bit more concise and descriptive of what the tool actually does rather than digging through the page. Looks great though!

@girllovescoding Really like the extension capabilities of VSCode and its ecosystem. Used Atom and WebStorm in the past. We are trying to build extensions for various IDEs @CodeMuseApp but none of the alternatives come even close to the ease of dev and APIs VSC has. Happy to change my mind!

@girllovescoding 1-1 conversation? Left. Especially with AI agents where I need to sift through both my inputs and responses. 1-many? Right. I want to sort others vs me. I'd rather go with colour separation rather than layout difference.

@girllovescoding What's the forward context? Short-term, medium load app: Vercel with cloud functions. Medium term: Docker with Kubernetes, or a managed container service similar to ECS. 1 month is short, cloud setup can steer you away from the business needs. Find something simple, scale later.

@mmcgarvey03 Hum, the image is clean but it was not obvious at first what was different. Maybe more emphasis on your solution and how this improves the resume? Also the flow is not very clear. Why is the recruiter on the left and the acceptance on the right?

@hinsencamp Seems to me that the lack of consideration for frontend development makes it way harder than it needs to be. Similarly backend is often considered more difficult than it actually is. Making a great product needs synergy between both, so consider them accordingly!

@jonas_hellman @adamnemecek1 I very much agree with this. However, it seems that recently the complexity has been growing in the toolkit itself while language features have made things easier. It sometimes feels like we spend a day configuring rather than building.
