Some of the trans kids that I know have permanent scars on their arms. Why? Because (a) they believe that self harming is a true expression of their trans identity and (b) because they can use it to manipulate adults who care for them Why do they think like this? It might just have something to do with the fact that adults (including teachers) keep preemptively associating self harm with being trans. They do it at assembly, in year meetings, in “Wellbeing lessons”, in the media, politicians do it. Self harm is a social contagion that we are causing.

I do 15 minutes of “silent maths” at least once a week. Do maths, on paper, if you can’t do that maths problem, write a question in words and move on. For 15 minutes. We answer the questions as a whole class after “silent maths” I often rig the problems so that many people have the same question

I am a teacher. We had a PD day on this very topic. I refused to tell the kids at school this stuff, other teachers at my school did though. Also, there are Australian teacher accounts on a number of social media sites that brag about doing just this. This is embedded into Safe Schools and Respectful Relationships. The Complispace compliance module than many schools use, tells you that you MUST teach this stuff. If you are a teacher who is not seeing this, then I wish I worked in your bubble.

Victoria. If you look at the screenshot that I shared, you will see that I identify that the developed curriculum takes a VCAA general capability elaboration (also on the screenshot) and extends it in a way that is not intended, but is still within the bounds of the elaboration. The VCAA curriculum guidelines are very vague. My notes were an attempt to convince my higher ups that this was not necessary. Alternatives: Are wide and varied as the VCAA curriculum is typically vague (they all are) Who ran it: A number of organisations have formed that develop curriculum and teaching resources and sell them to schools. They are in part funded by directly state government grants, and then they charge schools for access to the training and resources. All schools in Victoria are able to apply for state government grants to cover these costs.

@Lesterredux @Peter_Fitz The same group that designed this curriculum for 3/4 did it for kindergarten as well. The resource has the teachers regularly questioning students about what they might be, based on play interactions.

@Lesterredux @Peter_Fitz I am so relieved that the six year olds are spared this and it is only ten year olds who get to discuss sexual attraction with their teachers. Moron.

There are many topics that an unrelated adult should not preemptively discuss with children. This is certainly one of those. There are many topics that if a child raises them, then you should delicately close the discussion down and then refer to a qualified person. This is certainly one of those. It is not anything to do with my comfort. This is basic safe guarding that we all knew until recently.

@heresisted “Racism is not symmetrical” You implied that some people (based on their skin colour) can be rude and arrogant and not be held to the same standards as others for their behaviour. This literally means that you hold these people to be morally inferior.

RT @JDVance: For the sake of both of our kids? Grow up. Racist trolls on the internet, while offensive, don't threaten my kids. You know…
