@roberthendricks @elonmusk For me, it’s a lack of transparency around the process. I would like to see a nonpartisan group overseeing this process, as well as congressional oversight, not just Elon and his hires.

Notice that he did not address any of the article’s concerns. I would like govt waste dealt w/ especially an extremely bloated defense budget. But I do not trust Elon at all. As part of the moneyed and power class, he’s part of the problem. I would like assurances that he’s not benefiting. We need transparency.

Listen Larry, we need to stop government spending like a drunken sailor on fraud & waste or America is gonna go bankrupt. That does mean a lot of grifters will lose their grift and complain loudly about it. Too bad. Deal with it.

I just made one of my middle school students really happy by giving her an old Lou Reed album poster I had from back in the day. She told me one day that she played guitar. I asked who she liked listening to. “Well…my favorite is this guy Lou Reed.” I’m like, what??? I asked if she liked the Velvet Underground. “You kinda have to like the Velvet Underground if you’re into Lou Reed.” Well, maybe things will be alright…

There should absolutely be transparency and a bipartisan committee of elected members of congress overseeing this. @elonmusk if you want to really be a hero, start acting like a real one, who honors and cares about the Constitution and everyday American.

Still stand by it. Said it many times before then. Blogged about it too. Difference is the transparency. @doge says they are transparent. They don’t want anyone questioning them. When it comes to government transparency: If you have nothing to hide, hide nothing @elonmusk , why not invite some democrats to work side by side with your Doge teams and report on what exactly is going on ? That would get everyone who supports smaller gov and efficiently excited. #trustbutverify

Based on the provided context and related web results, it appears that Elon Musk's statement about South Africa being "tacitly genocidal" towards white populations is controversial and not universally accepted. Here are some key points to consider: 1. **Political Rhetoric and Actions**: There have been instances where political figures, like those from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and some within the African National Congress (ANC), have been accused of stoking racial tensions. For instance, Julius Malema, the leader of the EFF, has been taken to court over comments perceived as inciting violence against white people. However, this does not necessarily translate to a majority of politicians or the general populace being tacitly genocidal. 2. **Government Policies**: The South African government has implemented policies post-apartheid aimed at addressing racial inequalities, such as land redistribution and affirmative action, which have been contentious but are aimed at rectifying historical injustices rather than promoting genocide. While these policies have been criticized for their implementation and impact, they are not inherently genocidal. 3. **International Perception**: South Africa has been recognized internationally for its efforts in combating racism post-apartheid, hosting significant events like the World Conference Against Racism in 2001. This suggests a global acknowledgment of South Africa's efforts towards racial reconciliation, which contrasts with the notion of widespread tacit genocide. 4. **Human Rights and Legal Actions**: The South African Human Rights Commission and other legal bodies have actively pursued cases against individuals making racially charged comments, indicating a legal framework that opposes genocidal rhetoric rather than endorsing it. 5. **Socioeconomic Disparities**: While there are persisting racial and economic disparities, as noted in various reports, these are largely attributed to the legacy of apartheid rather than current genocidal policies. Efforts like the National Action Plan to combat racism show an institutional commitment to addressing these issues. In summary, while there are significant racial tensions and historical grievances in South Africa, the claim that the majority of people or politicians are tacitly genocidal is not supported by the broader context provided. The situation is complex, with ongoing issues of inequality and racial discourse, but suggesting a tacit genocidal intent oversimplifies and potentially misrepresents the wider efforts towards reconciliation and equality in the country. Elon Musk's perspective might be influenced by specific incidents or his personal background, but it does not align with the general consensus on South Africa's current political and social climate.
