@DrDreHistorian In Australia, Cancer history, for example! But in my PhD field of modern German history, it was much harder to find a gap. But there’s always space. It’s important to remember that a PhD is still just a degree, so original is important, but proving scholarly ability more so

@lmacthompson1 I was already married and my wife was studying for hers as well but at a different school, so we were doing our own thing. I tended to make friends with others in the same boat
