My wife and I spent our 20’s doing what we wanted. Only one month in but having a kid rocks. Nothing is on hold. We were ready to go all in. I already know I will miss having a baby. My only hang up is that I love this guy so much it’s hard to imagine loving another one as much!

The best part?
I now only work 4 days/week (in a finance job (!)) because of government protected parental leave.

If you have any attention to detail you will drive yourself mad getting a men’s formal fit right. Besides tailoring and the cost of decent materials I’ve spent probably 5 hours just looking for the right undershirt so I don’t look like a slob (sleeves showing). Almost impossible.

My father, a lifelong materialist, was startled one day to hear his mother’s voice from the ground floor of his house, calling his boyhood nickname. That was a bit of a surprise, since she was 300 miles away at the time. Startled, he went to look, and found no one there.

I like going to the least pretentious cafe in town. The coffee is standard issue black. I’m not certain their cups have been properly cleaned. A few menu items are chronically unavailable. The owners live in the back of the shop. I support their lifestyle.

First shot at nigiri, maybe fifth try at maki. Most of the work is getting the rice right and knife sharp enough. I have poor knife skills so it’s sloppy. Was nervous to screw up the nigiri too because that yellowfin cost an arm and a leg. Real sushi probably only works at scale.

Studies show a strong correlation with regular use in Finnish populations over years and reduced cardiovascular disease. It’s also very relaxing, but you should mix it with a cold shower/plunge. Increases tolerance to discomfort imo. Strong temperature variation is a stressor.
