@samcehrlich @sabo21 Is this an instance of the parties trying to slip something in under the radar?

@samcehrlich The school will need to cut 15 kids and is asking incoming recruits to decommit? The human cost of this settlement is insane. Could be easily fixed by phasing in roster limits or grandfathering in current athletes. Shocked lawyers are not doing anything about this.

@Flashurri_texas @samcehrlich Agree this roster limits objection is very persuasive. I wonder how Judge Wilken will react to its anonymous nature.

@beautyresultspr @WinterSportsLaw I also think we need to be careful characterizing what any lawyer involved in the case may have said. Tom is representing 155+ athletes who objected to roster limits. He def said the NCAA wants the broad release in the settlement. Hence the fight.

@beautyresultspr @WinterSportsLaw (2/2) Also Tom Weigand didn’t say this. It was brought up on the Zoom, and he said the same that the NCAA wants the broad release of the settlement to use as a shield. Otherwise his firm wouldn’t be representing the 150+ athletes to fight roster limits.

@WinterSportsLaw Thanks Mit. I didn’t appreciate 1 until now. I suspect if she is going to deny she’ll let folks know on April 7 and say go back to the drawing board. If she takes it under submission, may be a sign she’s approving and wants to take time on the opinion knowing an appeal is coming.

@McCannSportsLaw @DebbieE51612531 It’s tough to say. None the lawyers focused on roster limits. And I suspect Judge Wilken is not reading everything that comes in and is relying heavily on her law clerk. Your point that she had not heard from the athletes yet is a good one. Issue is front and center now.
