Sure, the NZ economy can do with investment. Better from locals than offshore as the latter requires too much enticement. However the real problem is low productivity. More investment won't fix that. Low productivity is (for example) when more people are regulating the apple growing industry than are growing and picking apples. That is NZ's real economic problem in a nutshell. The only real way out of poverty is to increase productivity. So sure, the Nats can focus on investment, but they need to do a great deal more on the issue of productivity.
