It's destined to happen when your primary motivation is revenge. A lot of woke excess was the result of the left wanting to teach the right a lesson for the stifling cultural conservatism of post 9/11 America. The cycle never ends because it's always about payback above all.
A lot of republicans seem to have watched the last decade of politics and been like “wow the left descended into hysterical moral panics which alienated voters and became a huge political liability. Now it’s our turn to do that!”
