The Officer said he was going to teach them a lesson because they were resting by an uncompleted building opposite his house. They were bricklayers at a nearby site. (2)

Things are still not rosy for Chris but he remains optimistic.
His life and what he has done with what was meant to destroy him continues to inspire me.
I think of the several Chris that are in correctional facilities across Nigeria and I am motivated to do more.

He had spent 6 months in SARS custody & 5 years in Kuje Prison. 2 years out of the 5 years, the prosecutor stopped going to court.

Nigeria's current prison population is about 74,000 and only about 30% of that are actual convicts...a for profit prison in Nigeria will lean towards helping to curb recidivism and making our prisons truly correctional than replicating the American model

I have also been to a couple of other prisons in Nigeria by virtue of my work with

No other facility in Nigeria has the kind of sophisticated security, personnel & exclusive location like Kuje.
At my first and only appearance before the High Court Judge he was discharged in line with S.351 of ACJA.
The judge was livid that the prosecutor had wasted the time of the court and absconded.
Chris' was tearful. He could not believe he was free again. ( 3)

After working with prisons for over 11 years & also understudying the US Prison Industry system. I can say that the context for both countries are far apart. America's prison industry is rooted in a history of years of slavery & racism. That is why they have mass incarceration...
Aisha, married at 13, currently 17 is been tried for the murder of her rival’s child who fell into a well & lost her life.
Aisha has been incarcerated and still awaiting trial for 2 years plus. Today the court would give ruling on our bail application.
We are hopeful.
The police informed us this evening that they have orders to keep the protesters till after the process which is absolutely in violation of their rights.
The call about the arrest was made by Mr. Emmanuel's wife who will now be going to bed without her husband.

The National Human Rights Commision just issued a 7 page Advisory Opinion alluding to the fact they are with the people.
