Romero is *unbelievable*. There are still non-believers even in our own fanbase - I genuinely don't understand how or why. Sure, he's not the best at defending corners (which is a team effort)... big deal. He's one of the best defenders I've ever seen at Spurs.
UEFA - call off the game.

Spurs - close the training ground. Forfeit the game if you must.

So happy that I get to watch Christian Eriksen in the PL again, but sad that it’s not for us. It’s going to feel really strange. One of the best players I’ve seen at Spurs in my lifetime and still under-appreciated by many, I think.
Romero has two involvements here and he makes them look straightforward, but I don’t think our back-up CBs would attempt what he does. He can take a touch and pause to assess because he’s so comfortable in possession.
I can’t remember an attacking player coming in and having an immediate impact like Dejan Kulusevski has since… Harry Kane. Even our beloved Sonny was a bit more of a slow burn.
Sessegnon's best 45 minutes for Spurs - I'm pretty sure that he had played more than two matches in a row for us only once before. He's now started the last four (albeit he only lasted 28 minutes against Wolves). Trust and patience being rewarded. He has so many good qualities.
That was a pretty special match, best I've seen this season. Our players are good. Our coach is brilliant. Things are looking up. Coys coys coys coys coys coys.
Obviously in an ideal situation he’d have been rested more, but his reliability has been crucial. For me, Hojbjerg is our most underrated/under-appreciated player.
If selected on Sunday, Hojbjerg will make his 100th appearance for us.
To reach that number inside 2 seasons is, in my opinion, remarkable.
He has started 72 of the 74 Premier League games since joining us.
A lot of Spurs fans seem to be finding the transfer window very stressful and if that’s you I would strongly urge you to simply opt out. Delete Twitter from your phone until Tuesday, stop reading forums. There’s nothing you can do to impact it in any way, so let it wash over you.
Bentancur & especially Kulusevski are (rightly) getting lots of plaudits right now from Spurs fans & the general football community but I think people are sleeping on Romero. Hopefully he’ll carry on showcasing his outstanding form tonight. He’s incredible, our third best player.
Don’t underestimate how big a result that is. The result but also the manner of it, at their place. I do think Villa are in a somewhat inflated position but it’s their position nevertheless. Huge win in a 6-pointer, these boys have bottle.
That was such a gritty, organised performance against the best team in the world. Our wing-backs handled their wide players incredibly well, Emerson Royal outstanding. Such a pity we couldn't see it through or nick one at the end, but that bodes well for the future.
Despite the scoreline, a pretty strong performance. Sessegnon a real driving force, Hojbjerg continuing his excellent form, but Romero and Lenglet making the biggest difference with their ball-playing abilities.
That was an imperfect performance. City make it so you cannot be perfect. They apply pressure, they leave you one option & even that one option is difficult. So of course players look scruffy at times. But the tactical discipline, the concentration, the work rate: unreal. UNREAL.
Just so you know, I've bookmarked all of the tweets of the people who laughed at me for suggesting we might finish top 4. I will quote tweet every single last one if we do it but I am offering an amnesty now if you want to come forward.
Kane mentioned that first goal was something they worked on - think it's specifically that Son comes towards the ball as if he wants it to feet but then circles round & runs in behind, with Kane showing for the ball behind him & playing first time. Nice disguise, nice automation.
There’s just no better feeling. Moments like that are why we sit through all the tricky times (like the last two matches). What a moment, it will live long in the memory. COME ON!
Levy copped all the flack from the Spurs faithful today &, whilst I think it’s legitimate to question some of his decisions, I believe he was the wrong target today. I’m losing faith in Conte’s ability to set up our team, improve our players & his inflexibility is infuriating.
I find it almost incomprehensible that some Spurs fans are genuinely unhappy with the direction of travel right now. It's a bad run, sure. There's a fucking *heap* of context that you're choosing to ignore because... I don't know why?
Whatever happens this season, we’ve beaten City twice with todays’s win coming late, had the insanity of Leicester, and appointed a genuinely incredible Head Coach.
There will be exactly zero healthy or productive conversations about that match on coys Twitter in the next 24 hours so I strongly urge you to log out for your own sake.
Terrible first half, really quite impressive second. Should have won that comfortably. Campaign to start Bryan vs Bournemouth. Campaign to release Lucas from his contract.
Twice per year my beloved Tottenham Hotspur, a team with no midfield and a growing chasm in defence, empty half the budget on a new winger to add to their collection.
We need to stop thinking of this utterly sickening Partey situation as an Arsenal problem & accept it as a football problem. Some fans go in to bat for alleged rapists simply because they wear their colours. Clubs validate those fans by continuing to pick them.
Incredible. This club. Those last minute goals, the moments where we're dead, but we're not. That's why we're Spurs.
Good night and God bless. Up the Spurs. Arsenal in Europa League.
Dele is going to go to a team that plays him up front & plays front foot football & magically start scoring/assisting again; our fans will say ‘if only he’d tried that hard for us’. He needs to leave for the good of his career. Hope it’s just a loan until we’re good again.
3-5-2 has given us our two best performances of the season… but Bergwijn came on and scored two, and he seems to see Lucas as undroppable. He’s going back to 3-4-3 isn’t he? 😂
He's done it again. 11.05km. Skipp 10.69km, Hojbjerg 10.25km. Nobody else over 10. Dele with the highest average speed of all the starters as well. He is, as Nuno says, 'a runner'.
Jenas said he will be shocked if there’s not a tweak or two at half time - either personnel or tactical. He’s not watched much Spurs this season has he?
There’s going to be a lot of revisionism about Ndombele over the coming weeks - he was a *brilliant* signing at the time, when we had Pochettino as manager. The club’s (bad) situation since then has clearly impacted on how that transfer aged, like it has with many other players.
Son is one of the very best players in the world at running in behind & finishing.
He is abject at coming short to receive to feet, which is what Conte asks him to consistently do. He is fundamentally bad at it, always has been & shows no sign of improvement. Conte is stubborn.
Please can everyone just relax about Conte’s contract? This chronic anxiety about it amongst our fanbase has led to journalists asking him questions about it in the precious little time they get to spend with him. It’s all so bizarre.
That was so commanding. Aside from the ten minutes after they made their subs, we were dominating the ball, creating opportunities, sticking to the game plan. Can really see Conte's philosophy now, not just glimpses. We are a good side.
I totally understand trying to play Son back into form but he's actually really hurting the team right now, think he needs to come out. Just put Kulusevski on and watch how different this match becomes.
Where’s the defensive organisation? The structure? What was the plan to contain Saka and Odegaard? Mistake from Lloris notwithstanding, I can’t understand what we were trying to do here.
Absolutely infuriating match. Understand Conte is hamstrung by WB options but that was crying out for a change in system, maybe getting Bergwijn on to stretch the defence, and he left it so late to change anything.
I’m in favour of keeping Højbjerg but if the longer term plan is to get rid and we can do a Højbjerg to Gallagher upgrade this window then hell yeah get it done
Glorious performance. So consistent throughout the 90. Such good tactical awareness, confidence on the ball. Hojbjerg and Kane outstanding. Doherty and Perisic really improving.
6 years ago today we started The Extra Inch podcast's own feed. That time has flown! Thanks for all of the support along the way, it's really appreciated. If you enjoy the pod, please tell your Spurs mates and leave a rating and review wherever you listen. COYS.
