Today marks 11 years since the deaths of Oswaldo Payá and Harold Cepero in a suspicious car wreck in Cuba. They represented hope for change from within, for freedom from an unrelenting dictatorship. Oswaldo’s legacy is plain to see: that hope still burns.

#Belarus Larysa Shchyrakova, my former colleague, was sentenced to 3,5 years in jail. She is a brilliant journalist from Homiel, who had to announce she left the profession. Despite that and the fact that she has a minor son, she was arrested. Larysa must be released immediately.
