I'm in my PANDEMICS class. Just commented that ppl aren't taking COVlD seriously. Our class facilitator referenced CC Twitter, laughed, saying "there's this group of tin foil hat alarmists" who "sit around and only tweet about COVlD" like about "incoming waves" (air quotes)...
My boyfriend was directing a TV show this week w/ a very small crew. Before the shoot, I asked him if he was going to mask. He said no because he works 12 hour days. Yesterday, he called me, "Well... we had a COVID incident. You were right. Our guest host tested positive."
1/6
Main Host: "I guess I'll just say he's sick?"
Boyfriend: "Just be honest. Say he has COVID."
In the clip, the host ended up saying, "[Guest host] tested positive for COVID, so we shut down production. We'll continue this episode next time."
6/6
and sure enough, the guy tested positive. Today was supposed to be the last day of shooting, so the showrunner (who used to somewhat care about COVID) called and pressured them to keep filming. My boyfriend shut down production anyway and called the showrunner afterward lol.
4/6
"It's July, you don't have the flu. It's most likely COVID. You need to test. Please just step outside for now." He said he got some skeptical looks from the crew, but sent the production assistant to pick up some tests (who btw 100% went into the store without a mask lol)
3/6
Guest Host: "I typically drive everywhere and rarely fly. Of course, the ONE time I fly I get COVID," ...as if it were pure random chance that he got infected.🙃
Since they didn't finish the shoot as planned, the main host had to record a clip on camera to explain why.
5/6
On set, he overheard the guest host telling a crew member that he had taken DayQuil. My boyfriend went up to him and asked, "You not feeling well?" The guy responded, "Yeah, but it's no big deal." My boyfriend then used one of our lines (!!!) and said,

Does anyone else ever feel like we come across as conspiracy theorists? I know we aren’t, but sometimes I hear myself talking and think, “I sound crazy."
It's a common misunderstanding to think that people who follow strict C*VlD precautions don't value their freedom and autonomy. Actually, it's the opposite.
About 2 weeks ago, I tweeted that my boyfriend shut down production on a TV show he was directing due to a confirmed COVlD case on set.
Update: He's directing the same show again this week and isn't masking. The crew is very small—only about five people—but still, come on, dude.
currently in my virtual BIOSECURITY course about PANDEMICS and NO ONE IN MY FUCKING COURSE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT COVID
I've been sitting here with a completely disgusted look on my face. it's taking everything in me to not slam my laptop shut and quit rn lmao I wish y'all were here
@SNOOPYSD0GHOUSE
It's actually Cassie. I recently discovered that my parents originally planned to name me Cassandra but changed their minds after learning about the Greek myth. They didn't want that association for me. Ironically, I ended up being a Cassandra anyway.
My siblings who take zero precautions like to send photos of them out "living their lives" and then photos of them unmasked (of course) with my high-risk parents. They just sent me a picture from a restaurant, talking about how fun it was.
Dude, it’s just too hot to wear a mask outdoors right now. I usually mask outside about 99% of the time, so I’m not one of the “outdoors is low risk” people, but this is rough. Hearing people cough through open windows reminds me why I’m masking, but it still blows. 🙃
Taking C*VlD seriously is actually a profound expression of personal freedom and autonomy, focused on preserving the most important thing that allows us to be free – our health.
This is really about long-term thinking: protecting your health now helps (though no guarantees) to ensure your freedom to enjoy life in the future without the constraints of serious illness.
@LazarusLong13
I sent this to my boyf and he said, "Well, I mean, you didn't show me any empirical data, so this proves nothing. All you did was stress me out with the Covid shit, as usual." Meanwhile, every time I try to send him "empirical data" (he used big boy words!), he ignores it.
New SHOCKING development in the family text thread! They sent me a group photo... MASKED. I did NOT expect this, y'all.
Look, are they wearing loose earloop KN95s when I made my sister buy Auras plus Trident XS for my niece? Yes.
For the past 6 weeks, I've been incredibly sleep-deprived because my dog wakes me up after just 6 hours to go outside, and it's really been taking a toll on me. Today, I had a mild headache all day, so I tested for the first time since 7/16—and it came back positive.
I'm really frustrated and upset. I wish I had been testing regularly over the past few weeks, but the cost of tests adds up quickly. Since testing positive, I haven't gone anywhere except to take the dog outside.
@NYC_Emma
I get why you would think that, but he is truly not lying to me. There's a lot more to this than I've shared on here, but he has given up seeing friends, hobbies, traveling, his entire life due to my COVlD precautions. He's just extremely resentful about it.
“No one I know takes any precautions and they’re all living it up and healthy.”
Does everyone you know methodically measure every aspect of their bodily functioning on a weekly basis?
Do you think you’d be able to directly observe any health issues in your colleagues? • 1/2
Well, my mom’s 86-year-old aunt is now in the ICU with a lung issue (that’s all we were told so far). Apparently she’s “mysteriously” been sick ever since moving into a senior living facility 3 weeks ago. Her kids are flying in to be with her and everything—unmasked, I’m sure…
I know being sleep-deprived is terrible for general health, but especially for recovering from COVlD. The dog has just really messed with my sleep schedule.
I haven't even been taking him on proper walks the past 2 weeks or so. We've gone around the block maybe a few times but it's mostly just been quick trips to the alley for him to go potty, which happens a lot - maybe 6-7 times a day?
Do I feel it's sort of pointless to wear earloop KN95s *IF* you have the privilege of accessing higher quality masks that fit you better?
Yes.
Ultimately, had they just gone out to dinner at a restaurant so it doesn't even matter that they masked for this photo?
Yes.
I always wear a mask and try to keep myself and my dog distanced from neighbors when we run into each other, but it can be really hard to do because my apt complex is super small. I've had some close run-ins.
P.S. - it's having *access* to head strap masks but *choosing* to wear earloop masks (that can't fully seal) is what frustrates me.
disclaimer: I know KN95s may fit Asian faces better and that people with ethnic hair or sensory issues can't wear head straps etc—love u all!!!❤️
I'm confused and concerned—it's possible that, had I been testing, I would have been testing positive for the past month, but if that's the case, what does that mean? Is the virus creating further damage? I have no idea what to do. Paxlovid again?
My boyfriend just dropped off my Paxlovid (briefly, and masked, of course). It was the first time he's seen me in my Cleanspace Halo, aka what I call "my space mask."
Me: "Well? Does it look crazy?"
Him: "It's... a lot."
lol
btw when I said I haven't gone anywhere since I tested positive, I meant I haven't gone anywhere since I tested positive on 7/15. just remembered that I went into CVS around 7/20 (with the dog) for about 5 minutes or so to get my 2nd course of Paxlovid, but nowhere since then.
I'm really worried that I may have majorly fucked up by fostering this dog because it's very possible that having him has indirectly/directly put me at risk - like either he got infected outside or me taking him outside so many times caused me to get infected again somehow?
:( I love him too much now to let someone else adopt him, though. And he really is good company for me. I got him an indoor Bark Potty to reduce the amount of times we have to go outside, but so far all he does is try to chew it.🙃
my boyfriend is gaslighting me about paxlovid and saying things like:
“well why do you still have COVlD? Maybe it’s because you took paxlovid.”
“I’m not gonna do something illegal to get you a prescription- if it’s not bad for you why would I have to lie to get it for you?”
Do you think that people on instagram are going to reveal that they’re dealing with health issues?
If your family/friends/colleagues did have observable health issues, would you ever connect them to COVlD infections? Or would you just shrug them off as chance or aging? • 2/2
@ParentMishmash
lol I predict they'll ignore it, my little bro will talk shit to my sibs irl (he's hated me since I didn't go home at xmas or for Grandmom's funeral). my mom will prob txt them separately + tell them not to react + I'm just having a hard time bc I live in perpetual quarantine
I just told my boyfriend about the 26-year-old soccer player who died suddenly.
His response, “I mean, yeah, that’s always been a possibility for anyone. Scary, though.”
👍👍👍
LOS ANGELES IS NOT BANNING ALL MASKS! LA is considering banning masks AT PROTESTS ONLY, which I obviously oppose, but this is not the same as banning masks altogether. Before causing unnecessary anxiety, please read the actual articles and get your facts straight.
1 in 10 women infected during pregnancy go on to develop Long COVlD‼️
"This is something that does continue to affect otherwise reasonably healthy and young populations."
I'm starting to wonder if I have some sort of viral reservoir, or maybe never fully cleared my infection from July? I want to try taking Paxlovid for 15 days this time.
texts w/ my older sister after she sent me a pre-pandemic vid of me and my niece. for background, I haven't seen any of my family members since Christmas 2022 bc of COVlD. she makes a valid and heartbreaking point here, but, like... is this supposed to make me feel guilty?
@lucyveepee
100% absolutely not. He has so much resentment toward me regarding this whole issue that it’s essentially torn our relationship apart, and he basically hates me most of the time. He thinks I’m blowing Covid out of proportion.
I'm not an expert on international politics, but I've always stood against war. Seeing the footage from Gaza has been deeply upsetting. I've hesitated to speak out because I'm not well-versed in the issues, but I know that taking innocent lives is wrong, no matter the context. /1

Actually, I'm not aligned w/ the clowns at CDC/WHO. Public health promotes the mRNA vaccine as a cure-all, but it doesn't prevent transmission or post-C*VlD sequelae. They don't address critical issues like proper masks, aerosol transmission, or the dangers of repeat infections.
I can't believe I have to worry about this, but here we are. Today, I ran into two neighbors while taking my new foster dog (that I'm totally going to adopt) outside. They came up to him, put their hands out, and got close to his face. I run into them almost daily now.

As A Doctor, I Don’t Fear Covid As I Once Did. Or Cholera. Or Ebola. Or Anything At All, Actually, Come To Think Of It. I Wonder If Something Has Damaged The Part Of My Brain That Handles Risk Assessment.
A post in the r/COVlD19positive sub asked, "Is the risk of complications like blood clots truly decreasing?" A cc person commented, claiming that while Omicron is still a significant risk, it's less likely to cause LC and overall damage.
Thoughts?
My boyfriend yesterday:
"I have a headache and I feel kinda nauseous."
*𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘦* 🫤 "Alright, I fucked around and found out. Should I take Paxlovid?"
𝗹𝗺𝗮𝗼
I'm going to get him a vest w/ patches that say "Do Not Pet," "Give Me Space," etc. When I see my neighbors, I could say, "I'm sorry, but could you actually not come near him? I’m training him to be a service dog, and he needs to get used to ignoring people."

"Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist.
An otolaryngologist is a medical professional who treats conditions affecting the ears, nose and throat, while a neurologist treats conditions in the brain and nervous system."

My C*VlD stance is the product of rigorous independent analysis and a thorough examination of empirical data. It appears that you, on the other hand, are submitting to societal norms and choosing what's easy right now without thinking about long-term health consequences.
I also don't want to give anyone a reason to come near ME, which, again, also sucks... but it is what it is.
Another big concern is that we still don't definitively know if it can go dog-to-human.
What do y'all think? Anyone have any thoughts on this topic?

So much respect for you for this decision. 100% agree with you and support this. Thank you for speaking out. I have faith that you’ll be able to safely play live music again!
IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A SHOW THAT DOESN'T MINIMIZE PANDEMICS, check out 〰️𝟏𝟐 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐊𝐄𝐘𝐒〰️on Amazon Prime (Season 1: $21).
Tbh the first episode feels a bit cheesy/cliché/slow, but just trust me here—stick with it. It keeps getting better and better after that. So good.

@j_g_allen
it's great that 60 Minutes is educating people, but seeing everyone without masks makes it seem like good IAQ is all you need to stop transmission. Still waiting for mainstream media to properly demonstrate the need to wear N95+ respirators. Why is this so hard? 🤡🙃
🔺Alabama high school moves to virtual learning due to COVlD outbreak🔻
"JAG High is holding virtual classes on Aug. 14 and 15 because many staff members are home sick with COVlD."
It's really concerning to me. I know they don’t know about COVlD and dogs, but even if they did I doubt they'd care, because they're living like it's 2019.
I’m not shy about advocating for myself whatsoever, but having a dog during a pandemic is new to me.

Person both directly in front and directly behind me in CVS pharmacy line are coughing unmasked. Protect me in the name of the father, son, and this Cleanspace Halo. Amen.
