“There is nothing more demoralizing and frustrating in any sport than not being able to score…” - Kenyon Martin
I am a defensive coach and an I will not apologize for this. And I love this quote… sent me to the lab for next season in the midst of my free agency.
@dbtips101
Just talked to a few coaches about this … feels good to know I am not crazy. Pure spot drop defenses should be dead based on today’s offenses … reads and keying threats are more important than guarding grass. reading the comments - I see I am not alone
With Pryor and Shipley opting out of the Spring season -

is the unquestioned best RB in the city and state in my eyes. College Coaches take notice.

Where was that energy during the BLM protest. Quiet as a church mouse. When 70% of your kids are.... never mind we don’t want to talk about that.
Great seeing kids live their dream... man... I’m going to cry in the car... Proud of those kids. All continue to chase the dream!

I expect you other guys to be on a college campus- your time is coming. Don’t stop the work!
Love the kids , and teach the kids the right way to play the game and The wins will come… Banners don’t hang themselves . Talent , hard work, dedication and sacrifice does.
High School Kids should realize your player development depends a lot on you. By Only practicing with your team and no additional work - you leaving greatness on the table. Chase it l, embrace it and Love it. That’s the only way.
Coaching and mentoring kids for almost 2 decades. Discussing HS to a group of parents with college aspirations- one of the most overlooked items in high school is the position coach. He’s the coach that really gets you better as a player. Team time is about running the scheme.
What will be a double digit D1 offer kid

If your contact drills start from further than 10 yards a part - you looking for highlights. Working tackling drills closer allow coaches to teach technique. In the game of football -“we’ve always done it that way” - is not a very good answer.
All I hear is the NFL is soft now. hip drop tackles cause injuries on all levels. Now we gotta come up with a new strategy or way to get it done and we lose our purpose. Be a coach -there is a better safer way.
“I don’t run from
Coaching, I run to coaching …” Mike Tomlin
I will fight for my kids -past and present- they know that. They didn’t learn that after they left my voice but I showed them that while they were right in front of me. Practices, games and ALL activities.

Social media happened to youth football. Once you start glorifying things from far away people seek that attention. Whether it is good or bad. And that good or bad is left to self interpretation, so that’s never a good thing.
@kcarv10
You put 2 cities on your back, during a difficult time for your family. You won most outstanding player for your squad in a game few get to play in. Great job Young King! When you averaging 20 pts on the college level remember these times and continue to build!

I dig it not all athletes are meant for the next level. That dream though keeps kids going and coming back. Make it or not you have to have a final destination on your map. Maybe I’m just a players coach. If that’s a kids only way out of his situation- what should his goal be ?
I said in 2020 with guys sitting out ... it was not a question who was the best RB in the state of North Carolina -

called them million dollar slaves. And people laughed. Watching the NFL move in these ways has you re-thinking that as a joke.
Just had a convo with a parent — they drive 45 mins one way to get their son to school for athletic reasons. Kid already has multiple offers. I don’t criticize but man that has to be in your “bag” as a head coach to keep local talent in the school.
I wasn’t blessed with great XandO’s coaches in my playing career. My love of the game has helped me acquire the knowledge to be the coach I am. The Coaches I had did teach me how to approach different personalities. If a kid can not talk to you, he will not play for you.

Congratulations to Coach Greg Paylor of the SCAA Seahawks on being named the HomeAway Coach of the Year for Steele Creek Athletic Association!! Coach Paylor is the embodiment of the commitment, patience, and hard work of all Steele Creek Athletic Association coaches.
As I scroll through social media and see some of these QB training videos- I get sea sick. Everyone does not know what they are doing - they are making it up as they go. Be careful with your future out here. With that said -
@QBC_Charlotte
is easily the best in the business.
When you put a lot of time and effort in something - you should never settle… I don’t care if it’s playing UNO or Spades. The game is the game … continue to be great.
If he’s not then you have time have a trainer on weekends to focus on the details. Some coaches are going to kill me for that. These are just my thoughts - in my Jay Z voice
Great instincts and judges the ball in the air better than 95% of the kids I’ve ever been around - aka Willie Mays - A guy! Going to shine bright under those Indy lights

I have a special heart for pop Warner football coaches- especially if you coached when the league was weighted.if you don’t teach fundamentals then you were going to lose. Your kids in most spots weren’t bigger faster stronger. They had to know how to play the game the right way
I remember watching Georgetown winning the NCAA championship with my dad. First black coach to win it. He celebrated the moment. I was too young to realize what I saw. Rest In Peace King.

Baker done yet? Elevate whoever - but after the UNC game and the start of the bowl game ... someone gotta tell me why he’s still wearing a headset
The same way kids have to earn playing time, Coaches should have to earn that level of comfort that makes kids want to stay. A rival coach did more for me to get into college than the coaches I was with every single day - let that sink in…
CONGRATULATIONS to Ryan Stukitz and Lincoln Wise on becoming JV state champions!!! BIG CONGRATS to Angel Acosta on placing 3rd in the JV state tournament!!

Been running man match quarters the last few weeks in middle school - mixed results but the kids have it down. We have a very inexperienced group but you still gotta coach.
I gotta be the DB coach that tells the CB to check the WR splits on every play to help determine the routes. Kids are probably tired of hearing it - but I’m not tired of saying it
YESSIR!!! I am nothing without this guy's leadership and faith in me as a coach....give my brother
@the_real_GP
a follow...he's one of the best defensive guys I know...
Still amazed so many high school coaches treat rugby style tackling like “it’s the devil” *In my Bobby Bouche moms voice* insanely effective and extremely safe for the the game. We went to Seattle rugby tackling immediately after the video was released. My vent for the day....
