the disclosures being made about the activities of #USAID in regime change in #Mexico and the funding of activities meant to undermine foreign sovereign states in sub Saharan Africa in the guise of globalization and democracy will lead to the following questions: 1. Is the USA not being exposed damages suits at international law for harm caused due to admitted interference in the affairs of other sovereign states? 2. To what extent do these disclosures betray local democratic movements in sub Saharan Africa as puppets/ agents of USA foreign policy? 3. Will the USA be able to regain respect and trust as a leading force for democracy? 4. How can one tell the difference between genuine pro democracy foreign policy initiatives of the USA and those policies intended to advance American imperialism?

One of the things that have changed is the impact of globalization. Many local industries have been decimated by global giants that now have unlimited access to the Zimbabwe market yet they don’t pay local taxes and fees. The playing field is not level. Local entrepreneurs are simply not globally competitive because of many restrictions, including sanctions. We took 7 years to build Arcturus Mine because local banks could not pay for our imports. They didn’t have correspondent banking relationships to enable payments outside Zimbabwe due to sanctions. I am against all forms of Economic Sanctions as a tool to enforce global norms of democracy. The side effects far out weigh the objective. I actually believe that an influx of FDI is a better tool to eradicate corruption and cultivate democracy. Therefore sanctions have also contributed to the failure of entrepreneurship.

@matigary @tnash_truce We need a lot of support my brother. We will continue to rely on more support from Econet and from other stakeholders including the general banking public. We built TNAM to be one of the top 3 asset managers in the Country. We hope to do the same with the Bank.

@DengaBusiness @matigary @tnash_truce No. The reasons for the Scheme of reconstruction by Econet were set out in the Circular that was published. By then, I had already acquired about 25% of EcoCash Holdings.

I founded TN Financial Services in February 2001. I had been a partner at Kantor & Immerman till April 1998 when I joined NMB initially as Company Secretary and Assistant General Manager then Subsequently as General Manager Corporate Finance. I was already a millionaire in my 20’s. I had farms and was a very successful tobacco farmer and one of the largest Paprika farmers in the Country at the time. I had significant stock market investments. I had played a key role in raising Capital for Econet through the 1998 Listing on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange and subsequent debt instruments from NMB, other Banks, Old Mutual, and Intermarket. I had also played a key role in the 1996 NMB capital raise through a dual listing on the Zimbabwe and London Stock Exchanges. I had, previously, as a lawyer, designed the ownership structure on which the private placement that funded the construction of Joina City was conducted. I set up TN Asset Management as an Independent Asset Manager when there was self regulation and before the onset of formal regulation by the Reserve Bank. I raised the capital that enabled Cottco employees to buy the Government shareholding in Cottco before I even launched TN Bank (now Steward Bank). Steward Bank was formerly Trust Finance which I acquired from Trust Holdings on recommendations from the Reserve Bank to save Trust Finance from collapse. I am happy that I have now bought Steward Bank back and look forward to continued support from everyone. I agree with Mr Masiyiwa. It took his genius, his personal sacrifices and support from many people and institutions to raise Capital for Econet. As for me, it took me many years of hard work as a lawyer at Kantor & Immerman, as a Manager at NMB, as a Tobacco and Paprika farmer and cattle ranger with more than 2,000 herd of cattle and stock market investor with a portfolio worth millions of dollars before I founded TN Holdings. I agree with Mr Masiyiwa that there is little venture capital to support budding entrepreneurs. The little that is there is not well publicized and is not well coordinated. Not much is publicly known about how ordinary Zimbabweans may access the venture capital. Like a hen broods its eggs, it took me years to brood my entrepreneurial dreams before I could afford to hatch them and feed them with adequate capital that I had mobilized over the years.
