A disabled host based in Ireland has been told by Airbnb that a guest review which says awful things about her disabilities and accessible home (which she doesn’t charge v much for) will be published since she can’t resolve her disability. The guests don’t like disabled people.

Here we go again with women being told they aren’t the right type of women - for those of us who have hormonal differences, infertility, intersex conditions or disabilities the policing of gender and obsession re what is a woman effects us hugely - the hate and lies continue

30 years ago I was told I was a danger to other young people as I was a lesbian, we were hunted out of our jobs, country, our minds and lives. There was loads of crap re changing rooms/toilets and still is for many butch women. I too won’t tolerate it for trans people.

A reminder that this does not mean that disabled people have won any rights today. We still represent a third of homeless people, have no rights to social care to live in community and no family carer or person supported are asked what support they wish to provide or receive.

Many wheelchair users positioned like this would not be able to turn to the person beside them so these are fairly useless. Some of us like eye contact. Wonder how many disabled people were consulted and I don’t mean disability service orgs. Benches/tables with spaces much better

Bought shoes today in a shoeshop for the first time in years - have had awful experiences in Dublin with my crip feet so nervously trundled into Pat McCarthy Shoes in Ennis. In and out in 10 minutes and treated like a human being with dignity and respect. And shoes!

It's International Day of People with Disabilities. Over 600,000 in Ireland have a disability. Ireland has not ratified the UNCRPD, 70% are unemployed, 1200 young people in nursing homes, thousands more seeking housing.

If the deaths of 63 people were announced as the result of an awful accident, act of terrorism or other crime a nation would stop. We would hear more about who the people were, mourn them and we would be asking why. These days death tolls are announced and little else is said.
