I attended the hearing for the @WACourts farm worker overtime case, and it was packed with farm workers. The video here is one of the most remarkable moments I’ve had in a courtroom. It is simply a list of facts, and they make things so plain.

BREAKING: The WA Supreme Court has ruled that farm workers have the right to receive overtime pay after eight hours a day of work. This ruling is about more than money. It is about righting the deep historical wrong of excluding farm workers from labor protections. 1/

There is a ton of H5N1 alarm focused on risk to consumers drinking commercially purchased milk. Consumers are currently not the high risk group. We know who IS at risk! Dairy workers. They are getting sick now. There are only 150k in the US, maybe 200k max. Let’s protect them!

US: “This skilled worker earns a piece rate of $1.86 per 60 bundles of radishes.” SOME GUY: “I’m going to do weird math, decide she makes too much money & not even consider the time it takes to crate them, carry it to the road, load them...” #WeFeedYou

Everardo harvests every single apple by hand earning a piece rate for every 1,000 pound bin he fills. Depending on the rate and variety apple workers could have to harvest nearly 4,000 pounds of apples to earn $100. #WeFeedYou

Lizbeth shared the work her coworkers do to load the grape trucks in Fresno CA. Once each crew packs the 22 pound boxes, these loaders will often load 2 boxes at a time to maximize efficiency. Next time you buy grapes, remember the skill from these farm workers. #WeFeedYou

FYI: You’ll still have food, bc farm workers will still be out in the fields, vineyards and orchards. You’ll catch that flight, with ground crews and baggage handlers. Your mail will be delivered. Your trash will be collected. Construction work carries on. Outside.

Toxic air from wildfires is filling the Yakima Valley. WA state agencies recommend staying indoors, but in reality the apple and hops harvests are underway, and the crops won’t wait for the smoke to clear. #WeFeedYou

Does any real Democrat want to side with those violently assaulting @TheDemocrats Headquarters building? These thugs have more in common with @MarkwayneMullin than with Democrats, who won’t be bullied into putting Hamas in position to launch more brutal attacks, as they promised

LA’s hottest club is Star Garden. It has union strippers. It has farm workers. It has @tmorello . It has no ATM bc the manager is being weird. It’s in Noho. It has no photos allowed inside. It’s serving empowerment. It’s serving dignity. We all want to party with @EquityStripNoHo .

Even in searing heat, celery workers are completely covered up, because celery juices are incredibly caustic to any skin exposed to the sun. It will be 118 in the Central Valley this week.

The video below is actually from last fall (pre-COVID) but look how the celery workers cover their skin, including hands and face. To prevent phototoxic injuries celery workers will be completely covered up, no matter how hot it is.
