Every health professional has to continually stay up to date with the latest information So no one when qualified is not doing training We have annual, bi annual statutory and mandatory training and our professional bodies requirements for registration That’s for patients safety

I’m one of those who will miss out on the winter fuel payment as I will get my pension at long last 6 years late in November! But I can go without heating apparently in the worst economic crisis brought on my this dreadful uncaring Government. This is how they look after OAP’s!!

I worked 46 years as RN,RNM and mostly as a Heath Visitor in my career and did loads of hours over to get the job done. Retired just before the Pandemic and than went back to a PCG as a staff nurse who paid me just above minimum wage instead of top band 5. They exploited staff!

Actually it’s £185.15 now, which is what I will get end November after 6 years extra wait for 1950’s ladies by previous Governments But it didn’t have to be done this way! In Poland they have just reduced the age for women back we are not equal to man ever!!

It also doesn’t apply to nurses as well because we have to pay for our training now and end up with debts, pay our own profession bodies registration fee annually and often courses if you are allowed time to go on them

I’m in the same position as my OAP is due end of November and I won’t get any extra help or Winter fuel payment but somehow we have to manage! Unbelievable as we have the lowest pension in Europe. No one can now live on £185.15 a week as it’s not even minimum wage!

That’s if you can get onto the waiting list to have an URGENT operation My husband hip had totally collapsed and in extreme pain but we had 6 cancelled appointments to consultant In the end 2 weeks ago he had his surgery by going private at the cost of over 15,000 It’s broken 😡

All the crappy pay deals I got effected my NHS pension when I took it in 2019 after 46 years of service! Not like MP’s or all these PM’s and Cabinet Ministers who got severance pay for a few weeks or couple of years work. Unjust Society and certainly not UP LEVELLED but ⬇️

I’ve had the same experience with them the last 6 months and have finally got my shortfall in NIC’s for the last couple of years now sorted. Will get full OAP end of next month after 50 years of paying in and extra 6 years wait!! 😡

I had an extra 6 years until I finally got my pension at the end of November last year. Now still working part time as husband had an accident and can no longer work and has another 14 months for his pension. If you have savings or another pension there is no extra help!!

I know Harehills lived around Leeds for 38 years Have had to go to The Shine at Harehills to do training & parking near it very worried for my car & my safety Also go through to St James Hospital The last 20 years the demographics of the area certainly changed

How about mentioning the OAP’s who’s pension is the lowest in Europe and only 29% of minimum wage? We are having to work longer and pay more NIC’s for LESS 1950’s 3.8 million women done out of 6 years of their pension and some have died due to Austerity of this government

Went back when the call came for retired nurses to return to help with the Pandemic Still working now vaccinating for a PCG as a Staff Nurse but they aren’t paying me a band 5 pay was on NMC temp register and now on permanent in September to continue at nearly 66!!

To pay for his 2 operations under private care he got within a few weeks of seeing the consultant 7 months apart So used half of my lump sum from my pay out of NHS pension to get his operations After nearly 50 years of working in the NHS feel very disappointed it’s not working

No you need a lot of money if retired now. private health insurance or a job offer and apply through the Consulate in U.K. You can’t over stay 90 days in 180 days or you will be fined as your passport is now stamped

Same here I missed my winter fuel allowance after born in November and got my full OAP payment into my bank account today after 6 years and nearly 1 month wait for it. Totally unfair and now have to wait to next Winter to get Winter fuel allowance

Well it might say that but if you aren’t in receipt of pension credit & you can’t get that if you are on the new state pension rate your are over by £4
They certainly do ask about your savings in the 200 pg doc & if above £6K you might not be awarded it

Try living on a standard OAP? If you divide it up over 40 hours week it’s below minimum wage? Not every OAP is rich or own their own home Most have worked 50 years for this pension & paid in for it? Lots of OAP’s live in poverty & can’t afford to hear their homes or eat properly

My husband needs a hip replacement and will take over 2 years and probably 3 to get one! But go privately for the cost of 13,000 and would see the same consultant in a private hospital within weeks!!They obviously don’t work the hours that ordinary doctors do or nurses!!

That might be the case of well off pensioners but as in many benefits there is a benefit trap
Many are just over the Threshold with a small occupation pension which is than taxed due to the tax threshold being frozen so loosing more money

I worked for 47 years for the NHS and finished in 2019 and got a certificate with my surname spelt wrong and a bunch of flowers!! I’ve also gone back in the Pandemic and still working 2 years later at 66 years. We know that nurses pay hasn’t been good which affected my pension

Unfortunately even before this situation with petrol/ diesel prices Community workers in the NHS have always been unfunded for using our own cars to unable to do our work I spent 38 years in the community and the amount of extra hours were never paid for

We did have parking permits in Leeds Community Health Health visiting team but only had 3 to go around over 20 of us! So you didn’t always have a parking permit!

if you look at Backto60 campaign you will find that the DWP didn’t send out the letters to 1950’s women from 1995 or 2003 to save money
In the recent Ombudsman report DWP have been found guilty of this issue even a few years ago letters still had 60 retirement age on them
