Announcing Hardcore Software: Inside the Rise and Fall of the PC Revolution print edition. Many have asked for a shelf-worthy format, so I’ve done a full edit to create one. It’s 100 sections/15 chapters/918pp of stories, adventures, ups & downs of what I experienced. ($$) 1/5

The contrast between what Apple is showing and what Google and Microsoft have shown is a stark as ever. This is really important. Apple brings their point of view to the newest technologies, again.

In case it isn't clear, what Apple has done is the reverse of the search deal (to OpenAI). Rather than get paid, whether they pay a lot or a little it won't matter it will be for a finite time. In this sense it is more like Apple Maps. They have insulated themselves from

Kernel mode is *the* problem. In 2024 changing software from third parties via a private update channel is about the highest risk setup and should not be a generally available capability. And if it is it should not be used in critical systems.

This is the worst antitrust case ever brought. So embarrassed for the US. It is against privacy, security, safety, reliability, and more. Literally the AG talking about green bubbles. Out of the gate falsely stating messaging is insecure for non-iPhone users. I can’t even.

The best part about this is that the number of chargers is "7 or 8" as if there were so many they could not keep track.

INCOMPETENCE: @ElonMusk built more than 50K EV chargers at a total cost of $1.1B. Biden's $7.5 billion effort to build EV charging stations began in 2021 resulting in 7 or 8 completed chargers or .2 stations per month. Watch as this CBS reporter laughs in @PeteButtigieg 's face.

2017 v. 2024 - The message in both cases is antisemitism. What's different? The way the story of "fine people" is covered.

The idea that the current state of the art LLMs would simply replace search might go down as one of most premature or potentially misguided strategy “blunders” in a long time. There was nothing about what chatGPT was doing at launch (or now) that would have indicated using it
