What a journey.....In June of last year, @kfiam640 program director @robinbertolucci said she wanted @jacob__gonzalez and I to do a news special on the conflict between parents and the schools over #LGBTQ curricula. The catch? We only had 6 days to produce a 2-hour special. That meant booking all the guests for a highly charged topic, recording, editing, and promoting. Enter @nickpagliochini. His connection to the LGBTQ+ community was invaluable. 6 days later, "He Said, She Said, They Said" aired. One year, 4 months later, we picked up a National Edward R. Murrow Award. The first-ever for KFI-AM 640. We are thrilled beyond words that we won, but more importantly, we're equally proud that we have been given the opportunity to highlight important stories for the communities we serve.
