Britain needs a proper investigation into all options for reducing suffering at the end of life. That may mean better universal palliative care, a right to escalating pain-relief even if that causes death, or assisted suicide. We should not rush into hasty legislation.

The NHS spends £180bn a year. That's 6.5% of GDP. No wonder overall growth is screwed if its productivity has fallen by 20%. The fall in productivity alone is equivalent to another £35bn of funding!

Indeed. As @OInclusives said, the command is to eat and drink. Equally, I object to the abandonment of the common cup. I don't object to intinction for medical reasons but the option of following Christ's instruction and example as closely as reasonably possible should be available.
