Ward Councillor & Chief Whip of the @Our_DA in the Merafong City Local Municipality | Humanist | Rationalist | Liberal incrementalist
Carletonville, South Africa
Joined August 2016
@James87580855 @devolute @GerardMcL @damiengayle @JustStop_Oil You can be bothered about both, James. It's not mutually exclusive. Regardless, you'll definitely not get more people on board with your agenda when pulling tricks like those 2 girls.

Its with great pleasure to say that I've officially been elected as @Our_DA candidate the Ward Councillor for Ward 17 (Oberholzer) in the Merafong Municipality with a majority of the votes! It's an exciting new journey that only starts now. Let's get to work!.

I've been calling this for weeks. There is a Bell Pottinger type of campaign going on in South Africa against the DA to try & destabilise an ANC/DA power sharing agreement. This is all clearly orchestrated. Amount of bots, online smear campaigns, fake news, etc is astonishing.
Meanwhile, there is a serious information operation currently ongoing - sponsored and orchestrated by unknown powers - to taint the DA as an irredeemably "racist" party. The aim is to drive a wedge between the ANC and the DA, and frighten Ramaphosa, by inflaming racial discord.

@WoganMay @DasenThathiah The coalition that now runs KZN has 54% of seats, compared to 45% for MK and the EFF. It's called representative democracy.

A fierce and courageous leader. Premier Helen Zille is an inspiration to each and every aspiring politician and is by far the most accomplished Premier in South Africa. She has truly laid a legacy to be remembered. #HelenZille

Helen Zille would, without any security, campaign and protest in the streets of Mitchell's Plain against powerful drug gangs. She'd also get arrested for it. I want politicians like that.
[CANCELATION] Due to the inclement weather and ongoing gun violence in Mitchells Plain, we have taken.the decision to cancel National Leader, Songezo Zibiβs, programme in the Western Cape planned for today. Zibi will address the Cape Town Press Club on Wednesday!

I had a fantastic time at the event with @helenzille & @jsteenhuisen last night. Both of their speeches were highly insightful. It was also a remarkable encounter for me in meeting my inspiration, Premier @helenzille . Two leaders that have truly laid a legacy to be remembered.

@SpokespersonRSA So it took the previous government 4 years to implement this? You're just demonstrating the ANC's inefficiency among its ranks. I'm glad Minister Schreiber is fast tracking what should have happened a long time ago!.

Michael Beaumont really is ActionSA's biggest liability. So much potential lost because of ASA's constant bickering against the DA. What wasted potential. Clearly they haven't learnt yet from their underwhelming election results this year.
[WATCH] Action SA's Michael Beaumont says they would gladly give up their position in the Tshwane multi-charter coalition to the ANC if the DA reached an agreement to govern with the ANC. #Newzroom405

The DA is the party of business and markets! Want a growing economy? Vote DA.
Cape Town is no longer just a holiday destination. Itβs becoming the business capital of South Africa. They have plans to fix power problems and they experience less blackouts when compared with the rest of the country. International and local interest continues to increase.

Only if our government consisted of people with the willpower to bring about change for their communities like Solidarity and Afriforum. You can have whatever opinions you like about Solidarity and Afriforum, but they know how to look after their communities.
What happens when you remind Panyaza Lesufi that while his department wasted R430 million on sanitizing schools that were closed, the Solidarity union built a world-class R300 million Afrikaans technical college campus (Sol-Tech) in Gauteng?. This:

@Rise_Mzansi John Steenhuisen visited KZN communities during the 2021 riots, Songezo Zibi refuses to go to Mitchell's Plain because of "security" reasons. I think it's clear who's much more willing to be there when the "bullets" come.

I would like to wish the Federal Leader of the @Our_DA, @jsteenhuisen, a very happy birthday! He is a great fighter for liberal principles, and has thus far led our party firmly with dignity and strength, as we look forward to a more prosperous country free of corruption!.

@nickhedley She's a very good administrator for us, Nick. She runs the internal structures of the party quite efficiently. Much for efficiently run now than how the DA was run in 2019. That's why I'll support her candidature for another term.

@CameronPetersSA And how does the EFF treat their activists, Cameron? At the last registration weekend I as the DA Ward Councillor had to buy food and drinks for your party's activists after they complained to me about being hungry and thirsty. At least we take care of our activists.

@_joebelcher @BBCPolitics The UK has some of the lowest percentages of empty housing in Europe. The problem isn't the abundance of empty housing, the problem is the lack of housing overall. It's simple to realise that to counter this we need to relax the regulatory framework for more homes to be built.

@afriforum is one of the only sane organizations left which I'm aware of in SA that are strong on property rights and doesn't arbitrarily place individuals into social groups & determine their roles in society on the grounds of such. Well done on the #EWC presentation @ErnstRoets

@goolammv Yes Goolam. He wanted to give the DA only 2 MEC positions whilst we have a much larger mandate in the Gauteng Legislature than that. I hope the ANC's NEC intervenes and takes appropriate action. Lesufi is not negotiating in good and fair faith at all.

@YikeYuke @foxcub72 @mrjamesob Trans rights and women's rights aren't mutually exclusive, but sometimes, for example when it comes to sports and athletics, they can be in conflict. It's not bigotry to try and give women a fair chance at sports and athletics.

The adjustment budget of Tshwane was passed without the amendments that you've mentioned in your thread. Why deceive? Why grandstand for absolutely nothing? Why not just be a normal, helpful coalition partner striving to build the rational and moderate centre for a post-ANC SA?.
We are proud to announce that the Tshwane adjustment budget has passed after a number of important accommodations were made at the last minute by the multi-party coalition. We are pleased that victories have been secured for the residents of Tshwane.

@GaytonMcK If you care so much about the economic well-being of SAns, why is your political party siding with the ANC, who in the past 30 years oversaw the problems you mentioned, wherever it seeks to govern? Don't manipulate voters when you enable the very people that caused this.

@Dark_Magician81 @practice_outlaw @OfficialSPGB @charliekirk11 Socialism contrasts with human nature. If working harder, longer, or smarter produces no add. benefits because everyone is compensated the same regardless of effort, production will fall. Socialism's greatest flaw is that it fails to recognise the individual need for incentives.

@TheRealClementM Also depends on what the positions are, Clement. Agriculture is not a big portfolio in Gauteng as the economy is more dependent on industrialisation and the services sector over agriculture.

@ColleenMakhub Girl, YOU are causing the drama for illegally removing a Mayor for virtually nothing but to assist the ANC's own gains. Most voters didn't even vote for the ANC, and voted for alternatives to the ANC, yet you're actively helping the ANC to power-grab the City of Johannesburg.

Verbasend hoe AfriForum oor so klein tydjie so vinnig gegroei het.

@annelizevanwyk Where was this attitude of yours when the ANC enlarged the cabinet and created all these positions to keep their fellow colleagues happy? Call it "self-interest", but I'm glad the DA is not being a pushover to the ANC. The DA is entitled to claim a third of all positions.
