โผ๏ธ FORCE TWO ON THE BALL โผ๏ธ Against HEAVY HEDGE TEAMS bring a double drag. Itโs very difficult for aggressive PnR teams to not put 2 ball on the ball against this action, creating a 2 on 1. The defense will usually switch the 1st and 3rd. Slip the initial screener to the rim and ghost the second screener to space. ๐ฏ Creighton Double Drag | Slip | Ghost ๐ฅ @HarrConnor

My two favorite POEโs this year for my squad have been: 1. Race, Read, Race @BBallImmersion 2. Stay out of rotation - Speed doesnโt kill in basketball; change of pace does. Playing at one speed is an assist to the defense. Do EVERYTHING using race, read, race. - Attacking long closeouts is one of the highest yielding PPP in basketball. Players attacking the paint, contested, is rarely leading to 1.0 PPP without the one more passes/long closeouts. STAY OUT ROTATION.

@hogs10 Exponentially worse, yes. Pat struggles pre snap, this definitely wasnโt an o line issue.

โผ๏ธ FUEL CREATIVITY โผ๏ธ Pass with one hand Pass outside your body Leave your feet to pass Pass behind the back Master 'no look' passes Cross your feet on D Sprint to close Finish same hand same foot Practice Dirk fades Spin it off of the glass ๐๐ผ This is how players go from RIGID to FLUID. HESITANT to CONFIDENT. Apply DECISIONS to individualistic BIOMECHANICS. Players will organically figure out when to use traditional fundamentals and when they need to use their creativity. ๐ฅ @espn

Decision making is arguably the most important aspect of sport. In basketball, decision making is broken down into ANALYZING your ADVANTAGE. Small advantage Big advantage Neutral advantage Negative advantage The best decision makers quickly synthesize their current advantage and shoot, pass or dribble based off of this read and game variables (time, score, foul situation etc). This is commonly referred to as 0.5 decision making. The COACHES job, tactically, is to attempt to premeditate defensive decision making through scheme. Such as manipulating the tagger in an empty side PNR. The COACHES job, technically, is to guide players into their own, creative coverage solutions. This is done first through DISCIPLINE and then through FREEDOM (CLA/SSG/Film etc). Far too often as coaches we attempt to premeditate our players decision making and coverage solutions IN SPITE OF their current advantage situation. Once players are empowered to assess and further advantage within the confines of the spacing template >>>> ๐ ๐ ๐

#1 Auburn vs #3 Bama on Saturday. Two incredibly innovative coaches but in very different ways. Bruce Pearl has innovated by CONSTANTLY tweaking his flex offense and personnel to fit his system. Generating more space and pace to his sets and shooting night and day different shots than a flex offense did 25 years ago (for ex Gary Williams Terps). Nate Oates is incredibly analytics driven. Taking the Brad Stevens approach or turning his squad into an algorithm by meticulously safe guarding and hunting spots on the floor. COMMONALITIES? - Both teams make you feel them through channeled aggressive moments. - Both teams communicate as good or better than in the game. - Both coaching staffs coach with passion. - Both teams win the possession battle. ๐ฟ

โผ๏ธ Sticky Words Sunday โผ๏ธ FLAT GHOST Simple and EXTREMELY effective. This is a staple of Daigneault that I love. We call it โflatโ. - screen is below the 3PT line with butt to the baseline - typically used in inverted or G2G actions - punishes a switch - great end of clock/end of game when switching is assumed - usually forces the D to put 2 on the ball, creating a 2 on 1 on the weakside Common mistakes: - setting the screen to high, pulling the pop out of range. Must be set ~ around the nail. - killing the dribble due to pressure Adding a 45 cut to this action really stretches the D and beats virtually any coverage. ๐ฅ @tucker_thorson

Maybe the greatest teacher of the game, at all levels, ever. One of the first coaches to ever SHARE THE GAME AND HIS KNOWLEDGE. This was during a time of little or no film, and you could argue systems were much more proprietary. Absolute of ๐ of the game.
