1/ 🧵Recent Israeli FinOps trend Recap 🧵
After gen 1 finops players like
@spot_by_netapp
,
@finout_io
,
@zesty_co
, it looks like Israelis are taking on cost savings in the cloud, again. Here's a wrap up of some recent players in the space.
🚨 cyber startup alert 🚨
Yonatan Zohar, Nir Naor & Noam Issachar working on next gen data security platform.
Curious to see how they can cut through all the existing DS/DLP noise, but solid team.
🚨 VC hire alert 🚨
Rumor has it
@sequoia
has hired a new partner in Israel. I won’t say who, but would love to read your guesses (wrong answers only please)
🚨tlv startup alert🚨
@TalBronfer
(frmly Talpiot &
@SolarEdgePV
) and Daniel Yoffe (frmly
@SolarEdgePV
) starting something new in the enterprise power purchase agreement (PPA) and management space
🚨fundraising alert 🚨
Did somebody invent a time machine? Because rumor has it were are back in 2021 and
@lightspeedvp
marked up this deal ~2.5X. What a time to be alive!
1/ SOC 2.0
A new batch of Israeli startups are taking on the antiquated SOC segment. From what I hear, CISOs care more about empowering analysts with LLM superpowers to do their jobs more efficiently and effectively, rather than solving the signal to noise
5/ LLM Security
Everyone is going crazy with chatgpt, gemini (frmrly Bard) and other co-pilots so obviously hackers are rubbing their hands together waiting to exploit silly enterprises trying to be "innovative". Going to be fun watching LLM sec cos print cash out of thin air.
🚨 tlv startup alert 🚨
Serial entrepreneurs Ronen Lago (co-founder
@CyesecLtd
) and Nimrod Ben-em (co-founder @ Toga Networks, acquired by
@Huawei
) team up to launch Gloo, a co-pilot (gpt stuff) orchestration and automation platform.
@demibenari
@liadagmon
@TalMorgenstern
@ShaharTzafrir
@PnL63962200
Jokes aside, unicorn status lost its meaning in 2021, when VCs started pricing the shit out of each other in the attempt to deploy capital and/or define category leaders. In a perfect world, ARR, NRR and path to profitability would be the north stars for the “best companies”.
Reddit just filed for its IPO.
Have done zero research on the financials but intend to buy solely based on this post, which is the most astute understanding of internet discourse ever.
4/ PointFive
Serial entrepreneurs Alon Arvatz, Gal Ben-David and Amir Hozez are building after selling
@IntSights
to
@rapid7
. P5 looks to be taking a shift-left approach to finops.
Google: *gets completely destroyed for launching a woke genai tool and shutting down gmail*
OpenAI, who keeps on obliterating genai startups and evaporating billions in VC funding (coming from pension funds probably) on a weekly basis:
4/ TPRM
Security Score Card, Panorays, and all the other 3rd party risk assessment tools are apparently not enough, so we need more companies in this category to actually build a solution that is actionable and dynamic.
Teams:
1. GrantIt - founded Rotem Lurie & Or Vaknin / Funded by
@IndexVentures
& John Brennan (frmr
@ylventures
)
2. - founded by Zohar Vittenberg,
@nadavzing
& Roi Motai / funded by
@giliraanan
3. Libra - founded by Barak Klinghofer & Roy Peretz
3/
Roni Karp and Gil Rozen are at finops again after exiting Pileus to
@TeamAnodot
. Wiv is taking more of a low-code approach to finops workflow automation.
3/ PAM
Next generation of PAM solutions, yet again... apparently current PAM solutions suck, are difficult to implement and result in a lot of restrictions on user experience and productivity. Let's see if these teams can solve this $hit.
Main takeaway from this week: if you say “we’re not fundraising” (while on a podcast) and in fact end up raising, you’re gonna get called a liar on twitter. Early stage founders, watch your back.
@shaunmmaguire
Dude looks like a real hero talking about killing people behind a webcam. Should put his/her money where their mouth is ans join Hamas. I am sure they will welcome him with open arms
2/ Adaptive6
Aviv Revach & Eyal Brosh, frmr founders of Commerce Sciences, which was acquired by
@taboola
. Seems like they pivoted their initial idea, Popcorn Insurance, to , a next-gen cloud management platform.
2/ Email Security
Not clear how much more can be innovated in the email security space, but certain developments in historic email providers infra (Gmail, Outlook) might create opportunities for better email protection
First the absolute train wreck with Gemini AI, and now killing Gmail. Somebody at Google is hellbent on imploding the company. So happy I kept the ladyzrat69
@hotmail
.com email!
@mreiffy
Because their valuation multiples are typically low and VCs can’t make their models work with business like that, even when just considering on paper valuations
