@kelinwusr Sell covered calls on $SOXL and monitor the covered calls I sold Friday. No plans right now to sell any cash secured puts but that usually changes.

@MCOCGoldenSkull On paper only. I’ll sell covered calls and make premium until shares are called away. Not a loss until sold. Same with profit. Not a profit until realized.

@shibuyagaijin I had 4,700 shares called away at $34…back in again.

@TradingIyer It’s ok. Covered calls are profitable and I’m ok owning for a while.

I try to avoid that situation but when it happens I’ll sell the cover call at the strike which is a low amount or I’ll go out 45 days and might go a dollar or two above strike and it will pay more. Might just hold the shares a while. I only sell cash secured puts on stocks I want to own. If it is too far in the money I often just buy shares and average down. If I like it at $60 and it falls to $40 I should like it even more as long as no bad news is announced.

Saturday morning I get the email saying I’ve been assigned and the shares show up. I just double checked and I do have the shares. I checked history and do not show anything. My history will update Monday too. Kind of weird I have the shares and no history update. Schwab should be able to fix that.

Hi. When I’m trying to be conservative 15-20 delta. 15 when I’m just wanting to collect premium and not assignment…25-30 if I’m feeling a little aggressive and ok with assignment so I can sell covered calls. When I first started I was all cash secured puts. Would rollout to avoid assignments. Success rate was low 60%s…as the market would go,down so would the CSPs. I decided to stop avoiding assignments and sell covered calls. Now I’m 70/30 CSP vs CC and can make a profit on up or down days. Success rate is now in the 90% range.
