@NormanBrennan @Keir_Starmer Would certainly require politicians to believe -& be able to make convincing case to public- that the cost of investment to prevent crime is preferred to the cost of cleaning up crime.. including plenty of people who want tougher sentencing.. that’s all while fixing prisons etc

The moment that most stayed with me is Ronan Kanda’s grieving mother reaching out over his empty side of the bed. It was good to hear she finally felt listened to.. let’s hope she soon sees more action to save other young lives.

The Met has been lifted out of “special measures” (enhanced monitoring by police inspectorate) - huge and proud moment for the force- but much more to do.. and how will fears of “eyewatering cuts” impact reforms?
