I am honored that our paper came out in
@Nature
today, showing that "Online images amplify gender bias" What a journey!
@DzGuilbeault
and I have a colorful video to summarize the findings:
Super excited that I officially became a US citizen through naturalization! I am proud to legally belong to my adopted country. There is no place like the US when it comes to universities and research. Plus, I now share citizenship with

The sexual harassment training at UC Berkeley is very well-made. Now the question is: Are the people who could learn from it going to? Because when I put a sign in my office asking not to be hugged, mainly other junior women paid attention.
I just attended a thought-provoking, inspiring and passionate talk by
@NinaBuchmann6
on the topic of “paternalistic discrimination”. If you get a chance, please take a look at her paper!
In case you were wondering whether I only have a yellow suit, I don't! You can see some of my other outfits in the video! But the yellow suit is my signature suit. Thank you so much

for featuring me in this video!

Do you also use Overleaf to write your papers? One of my biggest fears is a crash that would affect all my working papers. We put a lot of trust in a single company. So maybe do yourself a favor and download a backup of all your drafts.
Hospitals are thieves. Remember: ALWAYS check before paying your medical bills:
My health insurance: "Your co-pay is $0."
@SutterHealth
"Your co-pay is $100. Can I get your credit card number now?"
A 3-way call between us eventually solved it. How to waste over an hour.
Ever wondered who believes gender research? I did too, so I ran an online experiment that was published earlier this year. It revealed a divide: men view findings on workplace gender inequality less positively than women. This could be a major barrier to knowledge diffusion.

Great question. My rules of thumb are:
1) When your dignity is at stake, negotiate (i.e. when someone tries to steal from you)
2) Otherwise, it depends on the opportunity cost of your time. Beware if it's a repeat transaction, it often pays off quicker than you think
@KRoyMyers
Such important and necessary research — but so sad. "sick Black patients wait longer for care than healthy White patients, regardless of capacity levels."
Newly updated WP🧵!
TLDR: Scarcity may worsen implicit/explicit biases & cause discriminatory rationing of resources.
E.g, we find that as hospitals reach capacity, Black patients die more, potentially bc providers rely less on medical need- and more on race- to guide decisions
Paper (w

TL;DR: Power has tangible benefits. Using data from military hospitals where both docs and patients have rank (a measure of power), we find that "powerful" patients get more care and have better outcomes.

Fertility in management is definitely understudied. This is partly why we need more women in academia!

Do you know a trustworthy French person living in the Bay Area who could vote for me by proxy in person on June 8th for the European elections? Looking for someone who would NOT support the rise of the far-right. Doit être inscrit sur la liste électorale consulaire française.

Sadly not an isolated occurrence. Once a doctor told me that this test shows that I have a 1 in a 1,000 chance of getting this disease. He then added, "So, if you take 1,000 people with the same result, one of them will have the disease"

Much to my surprise, we find no heterogeneous treatment effects by gender. But perhaps women face especially challenging constraints to improve business performance: see our “Childcare Matters” paper with
