Today was my last day at

as a the Senior Engineering Manager / Principal Engineer for Gameplay. After 10 years of operating under the Hypixel banner I feel the urge to move on.
The acquisition by Riot Games has been such an amazing and much needed development in our company's history. I'd like to give some personal thoughts as someone working on Hytale and Hypixel for 6 years. Thread 👇
Spent 2 years on this until I called the code final. It was a really fun project working together with the worldteam to make a tool specifically tailored to what they wanted/needed to deliever what the game design demands.
We take a closer look at the techniques used to create dramatic, procedurally generated landscapes across Hytale's zones. 🌐

I've personally never had the feeling that either of them were willing to sacrifice an inch of our company's spirit which was the foundation of our journey to even start Hytale and get here. This has lead to many decisions you can find in our FAQ:
I've been a part of Hypixel from a very long time now and there has never been a time I didn't believe in the path of the company. This is the latest milestone of Hypixel and I cannot describe how proud I am of every single person in the team.
There is also the relationship of me personally with Hypixel and my 6 year long journey. I've taken a lot of risk in the past, like leaving university during the EULA apocalpyse - just because I believed in the vision and spirit of the company.
I totally understand when the first reaction from someone to an acquisition is pessimistic, I am guilty of that myself. Especially in gaming and sports our relationships with companies become personal. We spend so much time as a fan and/or player that it gets emotional.
There are many areas where we can benefit from Riot's decade long operational experience. They can support us in areas where we are almost clueless which will in turn improve the first experience all of you make when you get your hands on

as our CEO and the people we met at Riot, I don't see us change our spirit as one of the most player-focused studios out there. In contrast, they were very open to helping us when needed and otherwise empower our strengths.
I have learned so much but sadly most of the things I have worked on directly haven't seen the light of day yet and some things may never do so. I am looking forward to the day Hytale is coming out and I can see the traces of my work sprinkled through the game.

Well done, Hive was the first server I played on and it was an important experience when I stared my career, I wish you would have taken my application though :P
I wish the team at Hypixel all the best and the strength it will require to take this over the finish line. I am going to take a short break before I am starting into whatever falls infront of me. I'll let you know.
I have met so many incredible people over the years and I have made true friends. People who I welcomed at my wedding - people who I will miss every single day in the future and people who will are destined to become experts in their field of the industry.

I see you post under most of our tweets, so I will try to explain it. It's mostly a bias that you see. Most of us have worked together for many years, almost a decade and most studios are started from groups who know each other really well. There are always people leaving (cont.)
So I get now Tweets in my Timeline because people follow that person. Not even like or retweet, just for following? This platform lost the plot big time.
NodeJS is such fun. After updating 250 MB of modules the project self-destructed and I rather remade it. But at least I am down to 24153245 vulnerabilities.
