Wife of a Shopping TV Host
@martynparker
, Loves travel, fine dining & gossip and sadly now needing to fight bowel cancer so swapping fine dining for baking
I am awake! Won the lottery on so many counts and loving my penthouse suite aka my own room which I cried when wheeled into, it’s the little things or maybe they heard about my snoring? I also like my painkiller drip might wear down the drip
#BowelCancerAwarenessMonth
@chrissyteigen
Snap! Just arrived at our Heathrow Airport hotel, fly out of T5 early in the morning, can I bring you a coffee? Don’t suppose your going skiing to Austria and could be on my flight?
Thank you for the well wishes to my last tweet it’s very kind & appreciated. My oncologist is happy with my recent CT scan it shows no signs of anything untoward so it’s 3 monthly CT scans for observation for awhile then at some point 6 monthly and eventually yearly.
#bowelcancer
Very emotional today, just had 3hrs hooked up to big bag of chemo and now nurse manually pushing last cocktail of 3 syringes into my PICC line and home with my pump
#bowelcancer
last cycle for now as it’s worked enough to shrink
In other news if my wound has properly healed I start chemo again in 3 weeks which I am devastated about but my oncologist wishes to be “belt & braces” - I’m ready for the nausea this time
#bowelcancer
Waiting for Dads Taxi 🚕
iPad full of films ✅
Lunch box & snacks✅
Positivity ✅
I’ve got this, wasn’t expecting it, but 1 more chemo cycle being sneaked in, meet surgeon tomorrow to learn next part of my
#bowelcancer
journey but good news we are shrinking tumour
Was this date last year that I had my first PICC line installed and first cycle of chemo. Today I’m sat in the waiting room 12 months later to see the oncologist to find out if treatment has been a success
#bowelcancer
My hubby
@martynparker
loves Amazon and wishes to ensure I’ve got everything I need during chemo. I drew the line at him ordering me a drip stand like in the hospitals so he finished out a clothes hanger instead we had stored away.
#bowelcancer
Some people childproof their homes, I’m currently “chemotherapy” proofing the house to keep
@martynparker
safe from me as I start chemo this afternoon for next 3 months. Luckily we can have “his n her” bathrooms
Here we go again! Was Dad taxi 🚕 this morning. If my bloods say we can proceed my oncologist has reduced by 25% the nasty stuff that gives me neuropathy to reduce symptoms this is my penultimate cycle
#chemo
#bowelcancer
Happy News on
#WorldCancerDay
Oncologist just phoned looks like vampires got some good blood yesterday and my neuts are strong 💪 so I’m on track for 5th chemo cycle next week. Plus we are booked in for a CT scan this month to see if the little bugger is shrinking
#bowelcancer
Not sure what my consultant would say about champagne & popcorn probably explain why I have
#bowelcancer
🤣 but f**k it last chance I can feel “normal” before I start chemo next week
If you hear any screams in next 90mins it’s only me having my chemo pump removed but more importantly my PICC line pulled out, visions of nurse which knee on chest as they tug and pull it out 🤣🤣Already suffering from nausea today so hope I don’t embarrass myself
#bowelcancer
Arrived this morning my
@bowelbabe
t’shirt from
@inthestyleUK
supporting charity for
#bowelcancer
will wear mine every chemo day in hospital with pride, will be interesting how many I will see on the chemo ward at
@NWAngliaFT
PDH - seeing my oncologist again today
Had my
#chemo
was not fun and felt unwell the entire time & now stuck with my mate ⬇️ till Friday afternoon, actually two mates as a sick bowl is my new permanent accessory these days
#bowelcancer
but after today just 2 more cycles left about 5-6 weeks more
Well it’s Wednesday and that means it’s
#chemo
day! I’m in the green team today & waiting for blood test to say if we are good to go ahead so parents are hanging around to make sure I don’t need a lift home. Unfortunately been retching away all morning must be anxiety
Can’t beat a freshly made bed and fresh air to blow the cobwebs away.
Now if we can just get the bowel moving everyone would be happy, I’m feeling the pressure of being watched 👀💩
#bowelcancer
Great phone call with my oncologist looks like all the vegetables and fruits I’ve eaten worked & my neuts / white cells back nice & high. Says a lot when your excited to be told you restart chemo again next week
#bowelcancer
I’m smiling to myself all these people making a fuss over the vaccine jab. I’ve had god knows what pumped into me for chemo, drank some bloody terrible liquid, had dye flushed through me & now this week off to Addenbrooks, Camb for a PET scan & will be radioactive I’ve been told
I could really get to hate Wednesdays, when my bubble bursts & it’s back to chemo. I have mixed feelings as good chance my blood work will say I can’t go ahead but that only means dragging out this process longer
#bowelcancer
#chemo
I’m too friendly for my own good! Agreed some junior doctors could come grill me about my symptoms that led to diagnosis and then a full examination of entire body & observations. Mmm 🤔 pressing down on sore swollen tummy by learners was not my best decision
Packing a handbag these days a face mask is as standard as purse & keys but I also pack a couple of sick bowls as you never know
#chemo
#bowelcancer
every room in house has them scattered around plus our cars & parents door pockets have them stored. It’s fun living with me!!!
It’s chemo day! All is well my neuts have bounced back strong so it’s full steam ahead and I have one of my favourite male nurses so I’m in good hands for the afternoon
#bowelcancer
Quick trip to main hospital today, due to Christmas, for PICC line flush and linebloods, fingers cross tomorrow when oncologist phones that my neuts are back & I’ve created plenty of immune cells ready for chemo next week and back on track to shrink
#bowelcancer
In recovery, have my tattoo only my consultant will ever see. I always have all the drugs I can get so they have called Uber parents to come and get me
Nothing like the smell of freshly baked bread to help you feel better. Attempted the Pesto & Sun-dried Tomato Wool Bread, i might not be well but I still have a fairly good appetite & looking forward to trying later
Well I think this last week I got my appetite back after
#chemotherapy
break and made up for the last 11 months
#bowelcancer
Some lovely food was served up in Scotland
It’s chemo day! Fingers cross 2nd cycle goes well but this time I have a fabulous LouisVuitton
#bowelcancer
bag for my pump when I come home thanks to
@dripdropvapour
a twitter follower of
@martynparker
who kindly made it for me
So nothing untoward found at the dentist yesterday after x-rays and a good clean so symptom of my
#chemo
is the sensitive teeth & toothache.
Risked a quick walk into town for an outside mocha & carrot cake
Todays activity for
@martynparker
is rubbernecking out of his study window at the workmen in next doors garden and providing me with a running commentary 🤣
Poor
@martynparker
toes curled whilst the District Nurses took care of my dressings just now, two lovely nurses qualified to deal with my needs. Just hearing them discuss made him needing to lay down.
#BowelCancerAwarenessMonth
#bowelcancer
The pain, trauma & suffering I’ve had to endure this week and no pressie from
@martynparker
yet each day he’s had a food surprise from me!
@gowercottage
brownies and
@Le_Swine
hot cross bacon bun box 🤔😢
I’m currently on a “pause” from chemo due to some uncomfortable side effects in my mouth. Got an MRI next week and in person with oncologist next week. Fingers cross no more
#chemo
or worse case I’ve got 2 more cycles left. Currently enjoying the pause as its been 11 months now
It’s Dad taxi service today, never too old for a Dad taxi service! He is sat in car park on this chilly morning whilst I’m hugging a couple of paper sick bowls waiting for chemo pump to come off.
#bowelcancer
rough morning
Me and my mate waiting for
@martynparker
to pick me up. Showering will be fun now, plastic cover on arm, protecting bellybutton all while trying to keep my mate dry
#bowelcancer
To ‘push’ me along out of my chemo fog
@martynparker
obliged in some Rick Stein Spanish cooking on the BBQ, me meal prepping kept the mind occupied. Lemon rice cooked in the BBQ with halibut fish served with grilled-roasted lemon & caper dressing all fresh herbs from the garden
Struggling with chemo side effects so
@martynparker
had to supervise todays
@bakedincakes
we decided on the Junior Bake Neapolitan Cupcakes we had in the cupboard - might try tomorrow the Raspberry macaroons depending on
#chemofog
Literally 3 years to the week since we last flew. Never thought this day would come again after lockdown, illness and covid but I’m on the plane!! Hello
@British_Airways
nice to be back
Well that didn’t go well.
Chemo could not go ahead as my “neuts” fell even lower rather than climb since last weeks blood test, plus I have toothache which could be a side effect of chemo or dentist issue - emergency dentist in morning to rule out an issue
#chemo
Glad to see the back of my mate, we didn’t get on well at all, in fact I’m hooked up to IV right now to help me feel better. Going thru sickness bowls fast that
@martynparker
has put another Amazon order in
For only the 2nd time in 35yrs
@martynparker
has surprised me, picked, booked and arranged everything all on his own.
I’ve hinted soooo much that I would like to see
@BlenheimPalace
that we are going tomorrow for Snow Queen tour, afternoon tea and the illumination lights
Sending positive vibes to
@MariYnysMon
who will travel later today from Anglesey to her hospital to check-in ready for tomorrows surgery, been such a support to me on my own
#bowelcancer
journey. Not everyone is as lucky to live close to a hospital for treatment
It was a Sunday morning
@bakedincakes
needed
@martynparker
to help with the pretzels but should have asked him to help with rock cakes as
#chemo
fog missed the mini smarties to throw into the mix doh!
Wow 😮 hospital is empty due to it being a Bank Holiday, hopefully CT scan will be quick just need to drink this foul stuff over next 40mins
#bowelcancer
Was blown away today when we had a parcel delivered today from
@CSupportUK
.
An amazing charity that supports adults & children with cancer. Received the most awesome Chemo Kit with items suggested by people who have experienced cancer themselves - cannot wait to try the socks
First night with my “mate” went well thanks to this bundle of pills. Due to chemo fog it gets confusing remembering what to take when, how many and what they are all for, I love the big new pills idiot guide Day 1, Day2 & Day 3 I shouldn’t get that wrong!
#bowelcaner
#chemo
Here we go again! It’s CT of chest abdomen and pelvis with the lovely gastrografin (not) drink. Then a week of scan anxiety till I see my oncologist next week.
#bowelcancer
Scan anxiety.
Never knew it existed till my own
#bowelcancer
journey.
Today is a CT scan to see if the 5 cycles of chemo have shrunk enough to consider operating. Will not know till Monday after Multi Disciplinary Team have reviewed.
Found some mixed glacé cherries 🍒 rolling around in the cupboard and decided to make
@DeliaOnline
old fashion cherry cake 🍰 for
@martynparker
only issue was I’ve had a slice before he has arrived home from work! Oops
Had the most amazing 60 minute helicopter flight over the space centre property, Cocoa beach, Banana river and swap land with 100s of crocs sunbathing, even saw in the river a manatee, dolphins and much much more
PICC line procedure today at the hospital, who ever thought let’s thread a cable through someone’s vein and into heart??? Ultra scan helps monitor its in place
#bowelcancer
#chemo
I’m often been thought of as a weirdo as my whole life I’ve loved airplane food and I’ve no complaints about hospital food. I can be throwing up one minute and then asking for a cuppa and digestive the next! We need bowls to start working
#BowelCancerAwarenessMonth
OMG! You know how you think the blood pressure machine isn’t going to stop? Same with a mammogram, breast in the vice thought it was going to squeeze me to death!
It’s chemo day! They have a good system and direct you to which ever colour team your in by the chairs - only problem today was I’m in the blue team and they have 2 shades of blue!! Yep sat in wrong chair for 15mins
#bowelcancer
