If you find yourself in an interaction with the police just resolve yourself to the fact that you may be arrested. Getting arrested is not that big of a deal. Just cooperate and for godsake shut the fuck up.

This is my argument to everyone who says transit should be free. The fare is partially about gatekeeping people’s reason for being there. It needs to be an effective means of transportation and it needs to be safe, clean, and efficient to be that for people who have other options

That’s a totally different thing. If you just stay silent while they grill you but eventually they wear you down and you start talking, you can’t claim your right to silence was violated. Silence alone doesn’t end the interrogation. Invoking that right and asking for lawyer does.

Vancouver, BC has one of my favorite things on top of having very good transit. The Evo car share thing where you pick up a prius and leave it anywhere when you are done. I don’t know if we are civilized enough to have nice things like that down south though.
