Why don’t we use solid boron powder (or any metal powder) as a way to store and transport energy? Burning (oxidizing) a liter of boron releases 40kWh of heat at over 2000 C. That’s 4x the energy density of diesel.

the first is mostly just an elaborate setup and the second and third books are where the payoffs really happen. so i'd still recommend the rest of the series even though it can get a bit ponderous at times.

I think all special abilities come down to signal processing. Most people learn to abstract away “noise” that cannot be plugged into a mental model that society values. But if you stare at noise for long enough you start to see information. Or hallucinations.

Freeze desalination. 1/3rd the energy cost compared to vaporization and lower capex than RO. There are engineering challenges around separation, but those are surmountable. Pairs beautifully with Liquid Air Energy Storage, which I'm building.

This is brilliant. Assuming intelligence is something that can compound, there's a time value of intelligence and an opportunity cost to any given application of intelligence. Optimal investment of intelligence will likely not be in replacing all human labor.

Oh I wasn’t thinking in dollar terms. Agricultural productivity is usually measured by cropped area and density, soil fertility, number of growing seasons, water resources, etc. By those measures the corn belt is far more impressive.

's project bob is super interesting. solar, batteries, ai, and starlink make for a powerful set of building blocks. there has been no better time to implement something like this.
the most common autonomous vehicles will be solar powered drone boats on the high seas connected by starlink. it will be a logistics revolution.
