I am excited to announce that we are coming out of stealth with our seed round. Web3 can be as fast and simple as a Google search; pod is making this a reality! pod is a novel L1 primitive that brings optimal latency to Web3 systems, enabling devs to build real products. 1/6
We are thrilled to announce we raised $10 million in seed round funding! Huge thanks to our backers @a16zcrypto CSX, @1kxnetwork @theBBFund @stanfordSBA and @ProtagonistXYZ 1/2

If gas fees are taxes, the current L1s are a tax haven. Forget about having progressive taxes. The taxes (gas costs) are not even proportional to the value accrual to the L2. It’s, in fact, a fixed cost. It's like living in a country where you would pay a fixed amount irrespective of your earnings. p.s. I am assuming there is no reason for using the L1 for the DA itself

Today, MEV comes from re-ordering or inserting tx that touches a shared state (e.g., the AMM state). There shouldn’t be any MEV for state that is owned by a user because there is no benefit for an external party to re-order transactions. The paper wasn't aimed to solve MEV. Though primtives like auction can be used to make the shared state operation commutative and therefore reducing MEV (e.g. batch auctions of CowSwap).

@socrates1024 @fede_intern @poddotnetwork It does not achieve full consensus. It's similar to broadcast-based primitives like FastPay but with extra properties.

@5dayoldburrito @fede_intern No, the key difference is that with blocks, you must wait for a specific period to batch a set of transactions. Ideally, a protocol should be entirely responsive and should not rely on artificial timers.

pod is simple and revolutionary
A few months ago I learnt about @poddotnetwork. I really like the idea from the beginning but didn't have time to think about it. I've just read their paper. I think they are into something huge. As most good ideas it's simple and revolutionary. I really liked the idea. I have been telling some friends for the last few years we needed something like this. It looks very gossip + CRDTs to me or even kafka log replication type of things with separation of readers and writers type of things. This could be useful in multiple parts of the Ethereum MEV pipeline and even L2s. I hope we can use it in prod. Congrats to the founders.

@DBCrypt0 @RosuGrigore Yes, to achieve censorship, you would have to directly post tx to a sufficient number of active validator sets. I don't think there is a way around it because if not enough people see your tx then you can’t ensure that the tx will not be censored.
