Tonight I had the privilege of attending the 80th anniversary of D-Day Commemoration Service at Harthill War Memorial. It was lovely to see people there from all corners of the community, united in taking a moment to remember those who should never be forgotten.

The cast, music and jokes were fantastic at the Henderson Theatre. The best line of the night though was delivered by one of the children in the audience when the ugly sisters took Cinderella’s invite to the ball. “Give that back” went up the cry. A magical night enjoyed by all.

I was in Monklands A&E on Monday. It was mobbed. Wishaw and Hairmyres A&E were closed and rerouted ambulances were lined up outside.
Now we learn the Monklands replacement hospital is delayed until 2031. Will it ever be built?

The SNP said the new hospital would be built by 2023. Meanwhile here we are in 2024 and NHS Lanarkshire has to budget a minimum £5m in maintenance costs for Monklands hospital. Unfortunately, it is not fit for purpose in 2024 and neither are the SNP.
EXCLUSIVE: Health Secretary Neil Gray’s local hospital has been branded a “death trap” after beds were closed over flies, asbestos and a dodgy ceiling.
