minecraft being very loudly queer-friendly and hiring a trans woman to do their new music after notch got outed as a bigot will always be hilarious and cool
since i'm mentally on the topic of disney princesses, anna feels like a repeat of rapunzel's "quirky adorable" characterization, while missing what exactly makes her such a beloved character. yes, this is a rapunzel ramble thread. fuck you i do what i want!!
white cats being deaf is not a breeding issue, it is a documented genetic phenomenon. also, hairlessness is not a disability. munchkin cats not being able to "run and jump" is not their biggest problem. this post sucks
Disability Awareness Week May 10-16
Many of us do not know that fancy cat breeds are actually disabled cats. It is time to stop this irresponsible breeding for the looks that are a cause of suffering. Speak up against breeding of cats with disabilities!
#disabilityawarenessweek
idk abt y'all, but this made me genuinely angry as a child. between this and luna, i was raging all throughout eqg. was literally sat there like "why are you White."
a key part of rapunzel is that she's only so dorky because gothel undermined her intelligence for years. we see this constantly at the start of the movie. if you watch rapunzel's facial expressions, you can see how apprehensive she really is of gothel and how she calculates-
her next words and actions. rapunzel's behavior is born of abuse. she knows inherently that gothel's treatment of her isn't right, but she feels it's better to placate than confront her. rapunzel is actually extremely clever in this-- it's what allows her to escape at all.
this all leads to how rapunzel chooses to be silly, optimistic, and sweet above all else. she's a people pleaser because of gothel's abuse, but she's also deeply kind. she places dreams above all else because it's all she ever had. she's aware of the risks, the danger,-
but she chooses the route of befriending the pub thugs because of her principles. she's not as naïve as people in and out of universe think she is. she can and WILL defend herself, but she chooses kindness because she believes in the strength of her morals.
saying a cat breed is prone to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is basically the same thing as saying we're prone to dementia, btw. sphynxes are actually a remarkably healthy cat breed bc their mutation is naturally occurring. they're just high maintenance (which you exaggerated btw)
what they'd done with rapunzel. anna is also isolated, but she isn't abused. elsa is the abuse victim, and from it, she becomes overly mature for her age and is obsessed with self-control and isolation. the alternate route, so to speak.
the pub thugs are some of rapunzel's most trusted and worthy allies in the show, but that's a whole different thing, so i won't really count it as evidence for what makes rapunzel and anna so different.
anyways, onto anna. from minute one, anna is just intrinsically optimistic and trusting. she never chooses this-- it's just who she is. the hardship she faces is a product of her own naivete. she's blindly trusting, childish, and overall just feels like a more flat version of-
although anna is the protagonist, elsa was always the more compelling and nuanced character. this is a major failure. despite some of the princesses being flatter characters in the past, they'd never been outshone by others. in contrast to both elsa and rapunzel, anna falls flat-
on her face both as a character and a concept. in her own movie, she is outdone by her sister's character writing and arc. in her concept, she is far outdone by rapunzel's nuance and inherent choice in who she is.
also, deafness is a disability that cats can enjoy a high quality of life with. it doesn't belong in this category of highly painful chronic disabilities to begin with
@uzbadyubi
we need to start teaching kids how to set boundaries and assert ownership of their own bodies alongside teaching them about consent, the correct anatomical terms, and sexual assault. the way people treat children as property who only belong to their parents sets them up for abuse
@tonjibyrd
i always had this question too, but since i grew up around southern baptists... they weren't interested in answering. a lot of people seem to only worship him as a concept without wanting to understand who he was and where exactly his values come from, and it confuses me
@cen4rillon
they make it more about "i hate being alive!! being disabled sucks so much!!!" than "these breeders are perfectly aware of how their practices hurt the animals they're breeding, and they need to be stopped in order to prevent further harm"
@SiddhantAdlakha
i've never seen anyone who has a problem with inter-species relationships in fiction before this tweet like what 😭😭 twitter really has all the weirdos
@IGdolljunk
I'm 17, and i stopped buying new brands when i was like 10 because so many toys that were coming out were weirdly poop themed??? it was awful
this is called a rapunzel ramble thread for a reason lol. i don't like anna or frozen. i think it's mediocre. it's got a rough plot with a TERRIBLE twist villain to the point where the most popular fan theory is that he was literally brainwashed by the trolls, which are lowkey
@PeachieRad
also, binders barely work for people with large breasts. i've got E cups, and mine only makes them look super saggy. it makes me even more dysphoric to wear one bc they don't work!!
became more popular than anna, because she's the only character that isn't a walking cliche. frozen 2 is WAY better in its depiction of anna, even though the plot sucks and is again just a mix of rushed drafts.
evil in their own right. frozen is the only princess movie where i've gotten genuinely sick of the songs. you can tell in both frozen 1 and 2 that the script is a mesh of different drafts that don't entirely go together, and it just kinda sucks! it's a no-brainer that elsa
@beachmermaid118
i haven't seen wish because the music alone made me want to die, but i think moana and mirabel are more sarcastic and witty than awkward and quirky. they're just in unfamiliar or unideal scenarios.
@reieepy
yeah, the big problem with munchkin cats is that their purposefully bred disability causes severe osteoarthritis and a curve spine, which leads to reduced mobility and even more pain for them. the problem is that these cats are bred like this on purpose, but this post frames it-
sphynxes need weekly baths and moisturizing and sunscreening. they need skincare bc... they have no fur! your average sphynx does not need "medication" in order to have good skin. you're just using that as a buzzword. stfu
@camilaburner
the pumpkin gentlemen conversation devolved so quickly from actually talking about whatever wrong he's done, to making fun of him for his trauma and mental issues, that i just don't care anymore
TWILIGHT SPARKLE ✨
i believe twilight has autism and imposter syndrome.
ASD: rigid life structure, panics at unexpected change, special interest in magic, social struggles
imposter syndrome: for the first 4-ish seasons, she feels as if she's a fraud.
it's not queerbaiting, it's queercoding. the authors have stated countless times that ravenbarley is canon to them, but they aren't allowed to show it in the books. they've gone out of their way to show ravenbarley in the most romantic way possible without pissing off HC.
Friendly reminder Warriors has been queerbaiting us with these characters for a while and confirmed today (ironically during pride month) that Tallstar and Ravenpaw are not queer.
On social media they post these characters with pride flags, but they will never truly represent.
@cen4rillon
there's a MASSIVE difference between white cats being genetically predisposed to deafness (which is painless and has a high quality of life) and munchkin breeders purposefully breeding these cats with an extremely painful disability that causes even more issues down the line.
RARITY 💎
i believe rarity has OCPD.
OCPD: obsession with control, order, and perfectionism. beats herself up HARD if she doesn't adhere perfectly to both her fashion and moral standards.
OCPD and OCD are two different disorders btw, don't come at me
APPLEJACK 🍎
i believe aj is autistic.
ASD: rigid adherence to schedules, resistant to change, highly blunt, dedication to apples borders on special interest, struggles with social awareness and interacting with those who oppose her/are antagonistic towards her.
RAINBOW DASH ⚡️
i believe dash has ADHD (inattentive).
ADHD: struggles with maintaining attention unless it's in a format that interests her, extreme focus on said interests, hyperactivity (literally constantly flying), scattered (although somewhat controlled) focus.
FLUTTERSHY 🦋
i believe fluttershy has social anxiety disorder, which is resolved later in the series through healthy coping mechanisms and support.
SAD: severe anxiety surrounding social interactions, fear of judgment, self-isolating, over-analyzes herself in fear of scrutiny.
PINKIE PIE 🎉
i believe pinkie has ADHD (hyperactive) with heavy RSD.
ADHD: hyperactivity, scattered focus, talks a LOT, interrupts others while they're speaking because she can't hold herself back
RSD: wonderbolts academy, pinkie pride, and party of one illustrate this well.
DISCORD 🍫
i believe discord has BPD.
BPD: extreme attachment to fluttershy (his "favorite person"), intense emotions, rapidly changing emotions, possessive tendencies... you could say he has a chaotic mind
@slightly_artist
pacifica being haunted by the cruelty of her family is so depressing. you kinda forget since she's way more dressed up than the other kids, but she's only 12 and dealing with the weight of her entire family's choices
TRIXIE LULAMOON 🪄
i believe trixie has major depressive disorder.
MDD: self-hatred (hidden by persona), suicidal thoughts/tendencies (tried to khs on-screen), feels that everyone hates her/sees her as an annoyance, very low self-esteem
STARLIGHT GLIMMER 💫
i believe starlight has PTSD and autism
PTSD: paranoia, took extreme measures to prevent another loss, irrational thinking surrounding the event, experiences triggers
ASD: struggles w/ social norms, social cues, change, and acceptibility
@sonamelo34
i genuinely loved her in frozen 2 (she was actually the only part of the movie that didn't confuse or annoy me) and it feels like they were trying to redeem her with it, since they finally admitted they just wanted elsa to be the protagonist
SUNSET SHIMMER 🌅
i believe sunset has a major inferiority complex with PTSD (caused by herself!)
IC: fakes an ego to hide deep fears, attempts to be superior, extreme fear surrounding rejection and loss of relevance
PTSD: flashbacks, anxiety, paranoia, fear of herself
@maryjanepoppers
@IGdolljunk
there were also a lot of soulless gimmick brands like shopkins. I swear, the second mlp, monster high, and barbie went on the decline, the rest of the toy aisle went with them
@Madam_Riddles
it really is wild how tony crynight popped up with a disney-style fnaf soap opera where chica mauls mangle and then finds love with bonnie while trying to fix her out of NOWHERE 😭
SCI-TWI 🔍
i believe sci-twi is autistic with PTSD.
ASD: same as pony twi!
PTSD: flashbacks, extreme paranoia, constant anxieties, fears surrounding the traumatic event, deep fear of herself, notable difficulty talking about the event
@lRLPINKIE
i can not stress enough how the brony fandom had SEVERAL massive cons dedicated just to it. it was one of the biggest fandoms ever!!! ofc it had creeps!!! that doesnt mean all or even a substantial amount were like that, though
@HamImages
@ladbible
imagine being that victim and seeing your rapist at the fucking olympics. i can't imagine what she's feeling, knowing that even after being convicted for what he put her through, he gets to experience success and glory while she's just left with irreversible trauma
@MJzflowerz
@qjotx
sonic fans are notoriously nitpicky about the length of sonic's quills. they bitch and moan whenever they're even a liiiittle bit off
@RayOfFantasy
@MyNameisABteam
i feel like roxy isn't just obsessed. rather, she's being crushed by the pressure to be perfect all the time, like so many 80s stars who eventually fell to drugs or suicide
the concept of a pre-school kid saying "foolish" instead of "dumb" to scold their friends for doing dumb shit is fucking killing me rn. speaking like an old man on the playground
My parenting campaign to use the terms “wise” and “foolish” with the children has finally paid off:
4yo asked “Is that wise?” when I was trying to lift a very heavy box. (It was not wise.)
@FoxxDoesThings
it's a shame they got munchkin cats wrong, since that breed actually IS highly unethical and causes a lot of suffering for the cat. this thread is why i don't trust "adopt don't shop" people, because they're eager to latch onto any misinfo that makes breeders look worse.
@uzbadyubi
normalization of sexual harassment often starts in the home. my own parents would comment on my body far before i could ever comprehend what that meant. we need to teach children that their body belongs to them, and they have the right to tell people to stop.
@GeauxGabrielle
does she seriously think imane would be allowed to publicly support trans people? she's saying this as tactfully as she's able to within the limits because if she doesn't, both her and her family are at risk
