Disability Awareness Week May 10-16
Many of us do not know that fancy cat breeds are actually disabled cats. It is time to stop this irresponsible breeding for the looks that are a cause of suffering. Speak up against breeding of cats with disabilities!

What is done in Turkey to prevent stray dog attacks? Nothing. Authorities insist that neutering dogs and returning them back to the streets is the actual solution (!). But the real problem isn't stray dog numbers, it's dog straying itself +

öpekSorunu
Activists spread propaganda, lies to influence foreign media, accusing Turkish government of targeting, killing stray dogs. These activists are very upset that Turkish government started to show some concern about stray dog problem and want everyone who speaks about it to shut up
There could be at least 10 million stray dogs in Turkey. Many of these dogs are feral. These dog populations are maintained by dog feeders and " dog lovers", not just in cities but also in rural and natural areas. Turkey is even worse than India on this regard!
#K
öpekSorunu
Stray dogs in developing countries such as Turkey are a serious public health threat. Packs of stray dogs and owned, unsupervised pit bulls injure and even kill people, small children. It's an unnecessary risk we can't afford to take
#K

Turkish people are trying to raise the awareness of stray dog problem in their country.Hashtag

öpekSorunu ("The dog problem") is trending nationwide.Everyone has a right to walk the streets without fear of the dog attack. Keeping stray dogs on the streets is a bad public policy
Sterilization campaigns for stray dogs have never been proven scientifically to work. No amount of sterilization will reduce stray dog numbers down to zero. Neutered stray dogs still attack, bite and injure people, animals and cause traffic accidents...
#K
öpekSorunu
Because it is assumed to be a "humane" alternative to euthanasia. But humane to whom? Should we all be fine with stray dogs injuring people, disturbing traffic, slaughtering animals or even occasionally killing some poor child? In the name of "animal rights"?
#K
öpekSorunu
No good public policy can accept such unnecessary risk, no matter how small. Keeping an unpredictable, nearly wild predator on the streets, hoping that removal of its reproductive organs will make it less dangerous, is stupid, very stupid.

As predicted by the population model created by
@abi_vanak
and
@anyadoc
, sterilization (ABC/animal birth control) of stray dogs as a population management strategy is a waste of time, money and effort. So why it is still being promoted as a solution?
Heartbreaking view... Just like this kitten, many Turkish children become a target of stray dog attacks. Foreigners and their media need to stop glorifying those stray dogs. It's too dangerous,risky to have uncontrolled predators in cities

Living with stray dogs is not a choice. Nobody wants packs of dangerous, unpredictable, loud and dirty canines roaming the city streets.
@lizbklo
what you created is a fantasy.And very dangerous one. You turn a blind eye on all those millions of people who suffer cuz of stray dogs
In reality, no stray dogs were killed anywhere in this country. The current law doesn't allow that. For years authorities tried to do anything to satisfy the wishes of animal rights groups. Perhaps, they should rethink their strategy and cut their ties with these propagandists
Laws no 5199 and 7332, passed by the same government, forbid euthanasia for dogs in shelter - all are "no-kill" shelters. So what this guy claims is that government suddenly decided to do unlawful killings of dogs, against its own laws it created!
This propaganda appears just like that, out of blue sky. The reason isn't some imaginary dog killings, it's the strong desire of animal rights activists for power and control. When they feel their status quo is being threatened, they attack. Just like those dogs they advocate for
These activists want to keep stray dogs on the streets and don't care if those dogs threaten lives of Turkish citizens.They just support ineffective Catch-Neuter-Release (CNR),but even then they fight with authorities, trying to collect stray dogs for neutering or vaccination (!)

When foreigner welfare organizations want to help, share their suggestions regarding stray dog management, animal rights activists get very aggressive and stage protests. Like when the International Companion Animal Management Coalition came to Turkey, they called them "killers".
Throughout years, many Turkish people were injured and even killed due to stray dog attacks and government did nothing about it.People complained, but nobody listed.Dangerous dogs continued to be released back to the streets. All the sudden, claims of dogs being "targeted" appear
Small wildcats are often ignored but they are also vulnerable to extinction. Their numbers declining because we're destroying their habitats. It's time to raise the awareness of small wildcats, other animal species that get less attention than big cats.

Faced with soaring inflation, sliding approval ratings, and scepticism by international partners, Turkey’s president has set upon an unusual new culprit: dogs
And when it does, it will voice it's anti-government sentiments and will interview these so-called activists, while ordinary citizen will continue suffer from stray dog attacks and nuisance their cause.Somehow foreign media seems to care just one side of story, like example below
Turkish stray dog activists want to maintain the power they gained over the government. They can't let the conversation about stray dog problem continue, so they use another powerful weapon - pressure from foreign media. They know foreign media will catch on it sooner or later
UK based news media demonstrates its ignorance by failing to make a connection between lack of solutions to stray dog problem in Turkey, and from that resulting dog poisonings.Even if the new law is going to punish those who poison dogs, then what about stray dog menace?
@BBCNews
Warning, GRAPHIC video: Turkey is not a cat paradise but a hell. Packs of stray dogs entertain themselves with tearing cats' body to pieces. This horrific scene happens every night. Imagine the suffering of this poor cat...

This poor kitten died in severe pain when pack of these "friendly" stray dogs decided it was fun to get it killed. Must be anthropocentrism to care for these creatures injured and killed by dogs?
@straydocfilm
@lizbklo
It's fun to film stray dogs and then go back where there aren't any. I wish you had packs of stray dogs roaming in your country, near to your house. Get attacked and bitten by them, listen their barking all night long, see them killing other animals, step in their poop..

Poop and barks is nothing compared to daily dog attacks, bite injures, traffic accidents due to dog jumping to the road and rabies and other diseases risk. Does danger they pose to human life justify strict control of stray dogs? I think it does.
Don't come to Turkey, unless you want to be bitten by stray dogs. Even dogs that kill children enjoy their freedom on the streets. Animal law passed by same Erdogan bans any kind of killing, allows to keep stray dogs in shelters for only 10 days. Are you dreaming

A double standard as usual. If stray/feral dogs are bad for tigers, can't they understand that having these dogs in urban areas is not safe for humans either? We are talking about uncontrollable, aggressive half-wild carnivores that hunt in packs, not some miniature pet dogs (!)
@lizbklo
Just look at that face of this child. He was almost killed by two stray dogs, bitten to the neck when walking on the street with his family. Is this some brand of anthropocentrism to stand for these victims of dog attacks?
@straydocfilm
The filmmaker lives in a fantasy. Who are those people who want stray dogs on the streets? Not those millions of Turkish people who were harassed and bitten by very same stray dogs this biased documentary doesn't want to acknowledge.
@PokingVlad
@lizbklo
Ayşe nobody cares what you think. I saw your bullshit tweets about
@KopekSorunu
. Shame on you. You even lying to yourself. You don't care about any creatures only stray dogs. Ha ha "ALL life without distinction"? And those killed by stray dogs? Must be a joke
There are no stray dogs in Western Europe. And yet its media channels like
@bbcturkce
care more about stray dogs more than people. They side with stray dog advocate groups and other lobbyists,yet ignore voices of victims, attacked,injured or even killed by stray dogs
@KopekSorunu
@benimadimzeyno
@lizbklo
Unfortunately, with packs of stray dogs attacking, biting, killing people and animals, this isn't wrong to use an expression like this. Also those who feed and want stray dogs on the streets are equally problematic like the animal they try to defend
More fake news on Turkish media: Please stop saying that this kitten was a victim of human abuse. No. It's killer was a pack of stray dogs. These type of killings are more common than you think. The life of Turkish cat is hard when stray dogs are around

@lizbklo
How you are making those movies and but forget to research what is really happening in Turkey? Have you heard about countless dog attacks? What kind of dream you are living in? Not anthropocentrism, human safety and health - both things existence of stray dogs threaten.
@nenerimanov
There is nothing unusual about that view. Countless cats I knew died that way. What people thought stray dogs do at night? Of course, they kill. Cuz it's fun. Notice, these are not some hungry poor pet dogs. They are wild and dangerous carnivores. Why we keep them on the streets?
Many small wildcat species are vulnerable to extinction. Their numbers are declining because we're destroying their habitats. It's time to raise the awareness of small wildcats, other animal species that get less attention than charismatic big cats.

Animal/dog rights activists in developing countries, such as India, Turkey, use all ways imaginable to silence anyone who objects to stray dogs on the streets. They even use false rape accusations. This is not activism, it's unlawful and shameful. These people must be stopped
There are endless cases of false molestation/outraging modesty of woman/rape charge instigated by "People for Animal" Activists across India if nyone objects to nuisance by stray animals. M uniting all victims f this NGO as they've made dis modus operandi. If ur one plz DM. PL RT
@lizbklo
When you mean species that must be dog. But you do prioritize stray dogs over Turkish people health and safety, over their children, cats, wild animals and any other animals that fall victim for dog attacks. Your film is anything but one-sided fairy tale.
@Independent
Additionally, it is untrue that stray dogs are "targeted" in any way here. If anything, politicians, president included, have no desire to do anything useful about growing stray dog threat. You should think before interviewing animal rights activists. They spread unproven rumors
@Humanetoanimals

@lizbklo
believes that ordinary folks enjoy living with dangerous carnivores. Her film idealizes the straying of dogs as some kind of virtue, something to be admired and tolerated. This is exactly the same old nonsense our government and activists want to impose on us
Aggressive packs of stray dogs in Antalya (biggest tourist resort in Turkey) are a threat for people and cats. In the photo, the dog that has killed the cat has an ear tag and is neutered.
Please share this and pressure authorities to take action against these aggressive dogs!
Just look how much this birder is admiring a typical tabby cat when he imagines its a wildcat. The cat is the same cat as any other. Perception is everything 🐱
“Scientists cannot assume that because cats are a problem for some wildlife in some places, they are a problem in every place.” Cats are vilified everywhere, even in places where they are a part of native wildlife and represent the modern populations of Felis lybica wildcats +
@Independent
Could you please approach stray dog problem in Turkey without bringing politics in it? Just because Turkish president is aware of issues related to stray dogs, it doesn't mean that we need to downplay it all. Turkish people of all backgrounds demand solution for stray dog problem
@dogsbite
Since 2004, pit bull breeds have been banned in Turkey. However, the ban was so poorly reinforced that country currently is full of these banned dogs. The law only allows to keep those dangerous dogs in shelters for life, whose care expenses come out of the taxpayer's pocket...
