The confusion might come from what each of you means by DeepSeek r1. You mean “the app all everyone is downloading” and they mean “the model I just integrated into my US hosted service which millions of people use” And that different emphasis can be simply explained by the timeline: You can worry about the app right now because it is growing They are thinking about a medium term where most people use the model through other things. I assume this will happen sooner than later
