The whole Christmas sitting around, eating, drinking and watching the telly is kind of diminished by the fact that we’ve had an entire year of sitting around, eating, drinking and watching the telly
I wish I was getting the ghost train from Kerry to Dublin this morning, I can hardly sleep with the excitement across the Atlantic’s rolling wave in Toronto. But I love these words from these words from Con Houlihan about that epic journey

I firmly believe that the whole of Ireland should return Dublin Mean Time, 25 minutes and 21 seconds behind GMT, to account for the propensity of Irish people being, in general, late for things
To all those getting the ghost train from Kerry to Dublin this morning, I wish I was with you. I love these words from the great Con Houlihan. Can’t sleep with the excitement across the rolling Atlantic waves in Toronto

After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.
At Toronto Pearson airport getting ready to board for Ireland for the first time in two years. I fully expected the people of Ireland are already on their way to Dublin airport to await my imminent, glorious return!
Fantastic stuff by my great friend and old housemate
@Donnchadhol
. But I would like to use this moment to remind the public that I beat Donnchadh in a college election in 2008

The bodies of 215 children have been discovered at a Catholic residential school.
The Catholic Church is the only Christian institution refusing to pay the indemnities or apologize.
3 years ago Parliament called on
@Pontifex
to act.
We're still waiting
Got a COVID test this morning. No symptoms just got a notification through the app so out of an abundance of caution really. An Irish nurse administered the test. A true emigrant experience!

If so many Canadians of a certain age are so used to this type of weather, why do they keep flying off to Florida at this time of the year?!
Finished my last radio show for
@torontogaelsgfc
today. Started it in March as a means of keeping everyone connected through the lockdown, especially since we’re all immigrants away from home. Makes you appreciate the importance of the GAA, especially abroad!
30 years old today. Tríocha bliain ag fás. Not sure what wisdom I’ve learned in my time but I would say I’ve spent it with good company, good people and good pints!
@David_Moscrop
I think Sinn Féin in Ireland is a good example for others to follow. Invest time into on-the-ground organizing, getting involved in community groups, proposing a well thought out alternative and challenging the norms of how things are done.
You would think that RTÉ might make the latest series of Reeling in the Years available to watch abroad since, you know, a lot of emigrants are there because of its contents
If you are a football person please join the challenge of posting a football photo. Just one picture, no description. Please copy the text in your status, post a picture and look at some great memories/pictures. Missing football so very much!
Today one year ago I asked this beautiful Mayo woman to marry me. Here’s hoping for a good result in the All-Ireland final to celebrate the anniversary
At the moment that
@Donnchadhol
could possibly bring down a government, I would like to point out something important. I beat Donnchadh in a
@UCCSF
cumann election in 2008

Not public works but my great-great-great-grandfather was employed collecting the corpses of those who had starved. He lived near the workhouse at Bahaghs, near Cahersiveen, and was given the job of collecting the bodies of the dead who collapsed on their way to the workhouse.
You’ve been there for me through thick and thin, it’s been a while since we’ve had the chance to be together but hopefully one day we’ll be reunited. Happy Valentine’s Day sweetheart...
Out of office set for a week, a million tabs closed and "final_final" drafts saved. Now time for a beer and to enjoy the last of Toronto's summer weather.
"Discussion about the reunification of Ireland has moved centre stage"
"We believe that a new conversation is now required about our shared future"
A very powerful message by
@IrelandsFuture
, backed up by over 1,000 citizens from across the Island, time to plan!

At Pearson Airport waiting for my flight back to Ireland for Christmas. I expect the masses are already gathering at Dublin airport eagerly awaiting my arrival!
Today marks the 100 year anniversary of when a group of farm labourers from West Cork took on the might of the British Empire at Kilmichael. A crucial point in the fight for Irish freedom
As the sun sets on St. Patricks’s Day, Irish like us across the globe are filled with both worry and pride. Never before have we been torn between two places. Concerned both for our new home and home home. Together we will survive this

Watching Home Alone 2. Here’s my take. Brenda Fricker is Saoirse Ronan from Brooklyn years on. Her marriage to the Italian lad didn’t work out, became a recluse and befriended the pigeons in Central Park
