@colleenmfarrell I feel so proud when I see trainees fighting for what’s right and putting their neck out there. I’m so sorry you’re going thru all of this and I hope there’s some silver lining for you. Know that we see you and will support you however we can! . Sincerely, A Concerned PD.

Ok #MedTwitter why are there STILL so many MDs who don’t “get” PrEP?!? It’s not new - there’s just no excuse. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IF YOU HAVE A PT ON TRUVADA (PrEP) DO NOT DOCUMENT THAT THEY’RE HIV+ BC ITS NOT FACTUALLY ACCURATE.

@PettyHomoMD Yes but…have you tried being a patient? I’ve had times where I know a lab takes 24 hrs tops and I haven’t heard back for a week w results bc the doctor hasn’t reviewed it. That’s not ok either 🤷🏼♀️.

@DrLuskin @AshleyGWinter @fuzzymittens @NationalZoo @GUUrology I did 7 otter vasectomies in one day! (They wanted a peds urologist cuz they were tiny otters lol)

@RupaliGautam_ I think it’s important as physicians that we don’t lose sight of that feeling. It’s often easier to depersonalize patients to protect ourselves. Don’t do that. Feel sad for your patients. Cry with your patients. Keep being a human.

I did a thing! Wrote an article (w help and collaborators!) about #LGBTQ representation in Urology.

Anyone want proof that #lgbtq people still experience barriers to medical care? Here’s a small snippet of my husbands experience (and he’s presumably advantaged since I’m a dr). This is why #gaymedtwitter is so important to me!.

@elle_gayar That really sucks. No one should have to work under those conditions. Besides, you can’t provide appropriate care to others when you’re grieving the loss of a loved one.

@theatermania @TheTonyAwards THIS is the musical they choose?!? How about one of the MANY shows that have been recorded on stage? How about “fan fav” Tony performances from years past? How about anything other than a Grease song-along by myself?.

@NTConnell Happy pride! I’m Scott and I’m a pediatric urologist in Los Angeles. Focus on pediatric kidney stones and gender affirming surgery for young adults. Also fellowship PD and getting a masters in Med Ed.

@RupaliGautam_ I remember my first code too. In a word- surreal. I didn’t cry in the moment. I was so caught up in the choreographed chaos of all the providers and in awe of their focus and dedication. That night tho, it finally hit me that I saw someone’s life end and at that point I cried.

@AshleyGWinter I love it but I’m a staunch believer that Xmas doesn’t start til after thanksgiving so I really don’t wanna hear it yet.

@jack_turban Non-psychiatry fact of the day: whippets are adorable animals that make wonderful pets - as long as you don’t value your personal space too much.

@TamaraSurin @JAMA_current Oof. I listened for myself and…it’s something. The host seems like he just can’t get over the term racism being part of this VERY REAL AND PRESENT PHENOMENON. So instead of diving into the topic he keeps perseverating on the word. It’s pretty 😬.

@jfunkmd @clavelluro @SPuro88 @justindubinmd @AshleyGWinter @kjdelay1 @frosso55 @melina_mccarty I try to be more tactful on here but…fuck that urologist. Hate to see that kind of bigotry in our field.

As a gay urologist, I feel you (personally and professionally). We all have days where our “tissue” handling could be better 🤷🏼♀️😂.
Learnt to catheterise today and for some reason my hands just didn't wanna work so I kept mishandling the mannekin penis and I accidentally looked a teaching fellow in the eye and said "I swear I'm usually better at holding these".

@DocWithBowtie @JAMA_current @DrKatzNYCHH @ehlJAMA This was 💯 my takeaway. The host just couldn’t handle calling it racism bc HE clearly was too busy trying to defend his own anti-racism. The guest was trying to have a serious discussion but the host kept coming back to the term.

@RyanMarino @MCpublicsafety @STPDMontcoPA @MontcopaDA The heart attack these people would have if you just walked in wearing street clothes and cleaned up the fentanyl for them 😂🫢.

@AllisonRBond As a urologist, while “difficult” foley consults can be annoying, there’s nothing more satisfying than sliding it in first try and seeing everyone’s surprised looks 😎😂

You know that feeling when you apply for something that you really want and then don’t get it? Yeah it’s that kind of day. #theresalwaysnexttime.

@KimiChernoby @DGlaucomflecken Ok but can we talk about how anyone who uses abbreviations in their notes should ABSOLUTELY BE DOING THIS?!?.

@jack_turban When I came out to my co residents and one of them (my chief resident) started spreading rumors that I was HIV positive 🤦🏼♂️. Unfortunately I was too embarrassed and deeply entrenched in “subordinate resident mindset” to lodge an official complaint.

@AshleyGWinter @alextatem Totally agree. Worst part about being a surgeon. I used to assume that I’d become more of a morning person but now here I am, 12 years out of fellowship, still struggling to wake up in the mornings 🤦🏼♂️.

Who is this joker making fun of/belittling DOs? Oh right, someone who knows nothing about it. The next time you wanna disparage a whole subset of LICENSED DOCTORS maybe consider keeping your mouth shut. All of #medtwitter should be outraged.

@trpender @jbcarmody @BriChristophers @pedsmd2b @MollieMarr @ReginaRoyan This is most evident during end of M4 as you said AND end of training. It still bothers me that ppl don’t notice their privilege when talking about taking trips or time off. I don’t begrudge them but don’t look at the rest of us like we’re crazy if we couldn’t afford that 🤷🏼♀️.
