My name is Hugo Amorim. I am actually PhD Student in Parasite Biology on Oswaldo Cruz Institute - Rio de Janeiro/Brazil - Studying the characterization of metacaspase-1 as a therapeutic target in malaria caused by Plasmodium vivax specie in in vitro and in silico approaches.

Working with #Plasmodium can be challenging, and studying its biology is complex. As I near the end of my PhD, I have focused on various time points in #P. vivax. Now, I’m spending nights at the lab to prepare for a 3-hours follow-up on #P. knowlesi biology.

2° paper of our group this year. A study about Plasmodium vivax’s cell death. This time, results from Carolina’s Master’s. 1) Occurs in absence of classical apoptotic events; 2) Induced eryptosis in pRBC; It seems that there will be a 3° paper this year.
