I am in agreement with colleagues here that have diagnosed this as a fungal infection called Coffee berry disease. The recommendations given here are spot on as well. To be specific, since you are in Uganda, go to an Agri shop near you and look for a fungicide called Nordox, and apply it following instructions written on its packaging.

Farmers who have had experience in using the Ethanol based traps for controlling coffee twig borer, l would like to hear from you. Do they work? Would you advise a coffee farmer to use them? Can a farmer rely on them as a solution?
